    Best Servo ?

This would be cool as it is a pain to get the adjustment on the 2nd gear band just right (well, atleast I find it to be). I know you tout the extension pin method in the book but the threaded servo pin sounds like it may be a better way to get the job done.

    Trans reving high! Help

Hrmm... I think DynoTech pins the governor spring in, but maybe its floating around in the bottom of your trans pan? Maybe give Eric a call for his recommendations...

    ?help identifieing my trans

8635694 is the servo cover for GN servo, however I don't know if that is all GN, T-Types or if they started in a certain year. 8635692 is the servo cover for MCSS servo, which is smaller than the GN. If it is a 'BQ', odds are it would be either one of these.

The bands broke at the anchor I assume? Was the anchor heat treated or was it a stock band?

Help me ID this numberless servo.....

Very interesting and informative. Thanks for sharing. It seems the hard part would be to find a source for lip seals that would fit the new piston diameter.

Help me ID this numberless servo.....

So then are you modifying a stock piston to increase its surface area? I doubt GM would have two different diameter servo pistons with the same part number on them. Time to break out the alumalloy, a bottle of mapp gas and fire up the Bridgeport!! :D :D

Yeah that is the game, create the largest piston apply area and still fit the cover in the servo case boss with some rigidity on the cover walls. Assuming a constant apply pressure, the larger the apply area equals more clamping force for the band. Another thread has pics of a modified OE...

What is this trans out of ???

8635692 is the same servo cover that is used on the Monte SS units (CQ,CZ). The servo piston is almost as large as the Turbo Buick, GN units (BQ,BRF). The cover on the servo piston for the BQ,BRF is 8635694. You really ought to buy one of Chris's manuals on the 200-4R if you are thinking of...

    BRF Valve body ID

You don't need to take out the servo. The numbers are on the servo cover. Just clean off the cover with a rag and read the numbers off the cover. On the passenger side, on the 3" diameter circular cover, the numbers are there.

What is this trans out of ???

The servo has the 3" diameter round cover on the passenger side of the transmission. Should have some numbers on it, like 8630569 for example. Report back with your findings.

    BRF Valve body ID

Are you sure it is not a BQ6? Looks like a Q to me. Better check again. It does have two pressure switches on the VB though, that is a good sign.

BRF Valve body with 1 pressure switch ?

I believe there was one on eBay recently. BR code from an 83 Regal with a blue trim tag.

Help me ID this numberless servo.....

HOW, The 569 cover/564 pistons I have seen have a smaller piston like 2.35" OD. I have one that I removed from an 85 Monte SS with the same GM part numbers you list, but with the 2.35" piston OD. I am surprised that you got a 2.970" OD on the outer piston. You sure on that measurement...

    Shimming the rear selective washer

The old General comes through again! Got the selective washers today, and they are right in tolerance where they should be. :) Sometimes it is easy to forget your local GM dealer for parts.
