The 5V IP feed is generated in the factory boost/tach gauge in the dash speedometer cluster. This 5V power has nothing to do with the ECM as the ECM does not sense the boost pressure. It is used to power the stock 2-bar MAP for the factory boost gauge. Any sensor using this 5V source would be...
Looking at my 87GN and the fuel control and A/C control diagrams, I agree. I got the figure from the factory shop manual and it sure looks like it has the two relays reversed in the figure above. I'm sure its not the first time the documentation is inconsistent with reality.
Standing...
All these items and more are on the CIG-CLK fuse, see figure. Not shown in this figure is the wire that goes to the digital dash POWER INPUT/MEMORY connection.
Hope this helps, Mel
The coolant fan delay relay is also supplied by this fuse, see figure. It is on the driver fender, the rearmost of the three relays just in front of the wiper motor. Disconnect its connector and see if the fuse continues to blow.
Hope this helps,
Mel
The attached picture from the GM shop manual shows the routing of the Instrument panel wiring harness and the 2 under dash lights that come on when the door is opened. The lights are circled. The passenger side one mounts to the front bottom side of the dash under the glove box. It comes...
The passenger side cover can be a real b****h to get off. The third time I needed to get that one off, it came off relatively easy. Took me a bit to figure out that position of the rear rocker arm on the passenger side was the difference between being a b***h and purrty easy. If it doesn't...
The power for the AC compressor clutch and the interior fan (lower 3 speeds) both come thru the A/C fuse in the fuse block, 25A. Probably blew it when grounding the plug on the drier to the fender. That switch on the drier opens if the system pressure is below 25 PSI and stops the compressor...
If the main power wires check out, the problem could be in the coil side of the relays. The attached diagram shows the coolant fan wiring. The power wire from the starter is in the upper left of the drawing. Both relays get coil power from the RLYS Fuse in the fuse block (upper right of...
All engine electrical grounds come together at location G120 as labeled in the GM service manual diagram. G120 connects to the rear of the passenger side head, see picture. Factory used two bolts.
My ground strap connects to the firewall just above the rear of the driver side valve cover...
