Mine did the same thing when the pump in the converter (form the texas ac )departed and killed the whole trany .....hope You have better luck.....time to pull the pan and look :frown:
the 86 5.0 was the first Ford TPI type set up
no roller cam 200hp auto 215hp 5sp ,
in 87 the HO 225hp and rollercam
Small volume heads, 87 mustang got the truck heads form 86model
86 had the 7.5 rear , they didnot get 8.8 till 87

Drew if the tire shop used to much tire soap or the wrong type of lubercant.
When mounting the tires ,they may have rotated on the rims.
Just get them rebalanced
I always use a tire marker from under the car and make and index mark on the tire and rim after the new tires are installed so...

next_level is right ..1.55 is the rocker ratio
now to figure what the valve lift is ...this is what you need to do
cam lobe lift from the cam card times the rocker ratio equals the valve lift ..
example :
.300 X 1.55 = 0.465
This is your gross valve lift your really alittle...
