WOW, I thought I wasnt going to like this but very nice work, The bumper cut out and dash alone make this car so unique so hopefully you dont get to much $h!t for not having the turbo motor in it haha

THX for the heads up,, after 2(two ) blown up turbo engines , (last one blew the bottom out, crank ,rods etc.), decided on a different approach.

bullet proof LS, and 4L80e, makes a nice dependable ride. and it aint all that slow! and as you may know,a turbo on an LS makes big fun, i just wanna sell it before i get hooked on it,spending money!

i didnt think id like the DBW, but with an automatic, rollin kickdowns are fun.
word is DBW dont work so well with manuals, something about confusing the computor,,donno.

THX Ron

Whats a DBW, i have feeling I should know but its late and cant figure it out lol

DBW,, Drive by Wire,, electronic gas pedal,, no cable, just a small harness with a plug on the end, that goes to computor.

Yeah i know, times they are a changing!

DBW works very well with automatic trans. GM really did there homework with it!

its all abiut keeping the throttle plate full open, GM did simulations on how people drive (in acceleration runs,on the street), most people actually lift slightly, without knowing it, so the dbw keeps the plate open, until you lift as much as 25% pedal travel, gives much more satisfing drive, and ahead of the other guy!! hehe

Ah didnt even realize it had it. Im not doubting you on this one but I just dont like the feel when I drive my moms 2011 challenger, it just doesnt feel right but at the same time im not a fan of how the trans are set up. They have 4-6-8 motors and when your crusing and get on it, it feels like it shifts 5 or 6 times before it goes anywhere.

well oldsracer,, thats why the ECU was reprogramed, mine shifts from 4th-lockup down into 2nd gear ,instantly, no way your gonna shift a manual that quick, and before you got the pedal full down, throttle plate is wide open. like i said GM really did simulations and actual driving R&D. with an auto.

also some pix of under car. notice a full 3" exhaust, with 3 in-3 out MAGNAFLOW. makes a DEEP V8 sound, not loud!

How much did you have to cut out of the frame to cradle the motor? Thinking of doing this set up in a Monte.

I saw this car the other day, Ron was nice enough to let me craw under it to see how the 4l80e fit. Jeremey, I'll let Ron answer for sure but I didn't see the frame cut anywhere, It was a real tight fit though. I could be wrong as I was concentrated on the transmission fitment. Guys, this car has a ton of nice parts and sounds great! Lots of potential.

Paul.

Ron, I want to thank you again for taking time out of your day to let me see how the trans fit.

I keep coming back to this thread to look at this car. I think its badass. I bet it sounds sick!

THX Paul,, glad to help, anytime!

HEY, VAMP,, this car has the BEST V8 sound i'v ever heard, no way to really to say it, just gotta hear it in real life! not loud but has authority, like sayin, listen to me NOW! and people turn and look &listen!

and i been listening to V8s for close to 60yrs.

and the car aint slow ,by any means. like Paul said ,lot of potential,, did someone say( LS turbo 6.0L -4L80e, 3.73 gears). 650 dependable hp.

and JD, frame is not cut, has 1/2" thick plates on each side ,that Jegs mounts are bolted to, and they raise the engine enough for clearance, tight but nothing touches,, it really works well

and i keep learning stuff about how it drives,, cruising along ,60-80mph , let off the pedal, and it has a hill retard, it slows the car down, just a little without touching the brakes, kinda kool, YES GM did there engineering on this drive train system!!

like i said,, i'm still learning how this car drives,( no posi), other night had it out for a cruise, well on a road i'm familier with, has a tight left corner, normal speed 30mph, comin in overcookin it, turnin quick hit the pedal,(now this gets interesting) car pivots on dead center, like instantly changes 90* turn, hooks and gone!!

if it had Posi,it would drift out and slide,( and lose forward speed). and i'd be on the inside and gone.

I gotta give credit to the guy that put this car together ,its the whole package & system he really did an over the top setup!!!

Ron

question; any one know the difference between cylinder heads,LS, #317 and /or #243??

this engine has #317s
