A/C control problem....

So far I've replaced the control (Dash Mounted) unit and I still have the same thing happening. When it is on Max and Norm the A/c blows out the top of the dash (Defrost). When it's on Bi-Lev it blows out both the dash vents and down on the bottom alright. On the rest of the settings it works fine. Since it's been getting in the 90's here, I'd really like to use Max and recirculate some of that air. Any Ideas? TIA

I would check the vacume switch if its broken or loose. It could also need readjustment. Or one of the vacume switch at the that opens the vents are jamed or need replacements. Try not to use the bi-level or normal because it opens the vent to bring out air form out side and when you do this all the dust and rubbish from out side will be stuck in you air box and will ruien the evaporator in a long run.

Vacuum switch? Is that on the back of the control panel or somewhere else? BTW, sometimes when I switch it from bi-lev to vent, there is a loud "Thud" behind the dash.

Yes right behind the control pannel. The thud is the vent opening or closing. The switch is circular and has colorful vacume lines going to it, make sure you don't remove the lines by its self there is locking clip holding the hole thing to the switch.
