This thread was posted the GNX area and today I got an e-mail from the seller telling me he still wants to sell and that I can have an inspection ordered on it. I am smelling scam. See what you guys think.

Orignal e-mail from him

Hi Mason,

First of all thank you for your interest. The car is in perfect order, clear carfax, no accidents, no maintenance needed for the following months. The price is negotiable hoping for a quick sale. I want to inform you that my current location is Chicoutimi, Canada, but I will arrange free shipping and I will allow 5 days for inspection. The car is still titled in the US.
If the distance is not an issue we can move forward.
Let me know if you need any details of the car.

All the best,
Thomas Quinn

What do you think scam or a dumb seller?

My bet is a big fat scam. Get the vin from that ad and run it to see where it's been. Did he tell where it is now. His "location" is a few hundred miles north of Quebec. Tell him you want to see it in person. You'll never hear from him again I bet.

OK it gets better I asked if he had a phone number and I could call him this is what I got.

Mason, I have a phone number, but I cannot speak :). I had a maxillary fracture two weeks ago after a fall in rock climbing and I still have to wear a protection for a week or two. My doctor will know better at the end of this week. Please email me any question.

Thanks,
Thomas

Still hasn't told me where the car really is. I find this kind of amusing.

SCAM

if it were dumb seller wouldve been sold already and back up on ebay.

dumb scammer even, would be more believable if he were asking 36k for a quick sale on a gnx and prob would've gotten his sucker by now.

Scam confirmed. Here is his email to me (also posted in the other thread).

Hi Barron,

First of all thank you for your interest. The car is in perfect order, no maintenance needed for the following months. The price is negotiable hoping for a quick sale. I want to inform you that my current location is Everett, Washington, but I can arrange shipping and I will allow 5 days for inspection.
If the distance is not an issue we can move forward.

Here is my latest response to him. :D

Thomas,

This sounds GREAT!! I will be in Everett tomorrow. I would like to come look at the car. I will be bringing cash with me to make the sale process go faster. I intend on driving the car back home since you have informed me that the car is in excellent running order.

What is your phone number so I can call you as soon as I arrive in Everett?

Thanks a LOT!
Barron

Barron this is what he told me when I asked for his phone number.

I am going to continue messing with him until he stops emailing me back.

LOL! Yea, I figure he will send me an excuse of some sort soon enough. I, too, plan on messing with the guy. I might even recruit a few friends to as well.

More communication from him....

What's your location? Are you sure you want to add miles on a car like that?

Thomas

My replies:

Absolutely! It has 6500 miles on the clock. I don't mind adding more. I am buying her to be a driver. If it had less than 100, I would look for a different car. But yours sounds like exactly what I am looking for!

What's your address? I need to be able to plug it into my navigation system so I can come pick up my new GNX!! :)

Thanks again & I look forward to seeing you soon!!

Barron

Another reply answering his actual question:

Oh, and my location is Louisiana. Close to Calhoun, actually.

This is the latest that I have heard from him.

Hi,

Shipping is $730, insured. I will send the car with a local transport company. The shipping will take up to 5 days with delivery to your address. They offer an exchange protection service. This is how it works:
You pay to the transports company trustee bank account. The payment is kept secure by them until you receive and accept the car. I will sign for a 5 days inspection period (is that enough?). I am confident that you will love the car, but if for any reason it will not please you, a full refund will be issued and my car will be taken back by the transporter. Again, I am sure this will not be the case, as the car is in perfect order.
To proceed please register on Westfield Forwarding Canada -, read their exchange protection program section, and let me know so I can post the transaction for us.

Thank you,
Thomas

DJ if you can fly in and go get it I say you go for it. The company he listed seems to be legit. Kinda crazy though.

Do the same as the Everett reply....send him an email saying that you have family near him and can use this as an excuse to visit them and that you need an address so you can swing by and pick up the car! :)

WHAT AN IDIOT!! i can't believe he's letting it go for such a low price, i'm heading to the bank right now!!.........................................;)

I've seen that guys name before in another thread that looked to be a scam in the works also.

Be carefull thats a lot of money to lose on something that sounds to good to be true.

John :)

The guy could have made the ad more believeable. IE: This 2-door hard top has auto transmission and a 3.8 turbo charge engine. Anyone who knows what a GNX is or would consider buying a GNX knows what the drive train is. At least he got the hardtop part right.
