Got in a wreck the other night. Stopped at a light and happened to notice the guy behind me was not slowing down. I floored it through the red from a stop and he still managed to slam into me about 40 feet past the stop. My car jolted so hard the seat slider is bent and the seat is WAY crooked. Anyways concerned on what insurance company will want to do. Any thoughts? The rear quarter is kinked, the trunk no longer lines up, tail light is pushed in, passenger door now sags . Maybe the guy could have stopped faster if there weren't 10 of them crammed into one car.

WOW ,you are real lucky that you hit the gas,you would be really F'd up right now if you didnt

State Farm is fixing mine and they said it's like $4500 in damage. Get some a price from your insurance company first. Go from there.

just noticed today the windshield is cracking in 2 places.. the whole car feels twisted

Yeah it is

As long as you're OK you can fix the car. Good move hitting the gas!
Hang his insurance out to dry, don't let them total it.

They are trying to total it because it is in primer.? I should hear more tommorow but I don't really want to.

If they try to total it for lets say $3500 and you know the car is worth $9000, you just have to prove it to them. Insurance will try the cheapest way out. I had mine stolen, and with just a few minor things broken (never got it started) the bill ended up being about $2200. They started talking about totaling it, then I reminded them its not a standard regal. Once I pointed it out to the insurance company that mine is worth about $10-12k they didn't mention the word Totalled again.

If the guy has insurance...he rear-ended you...I'd be complaining about neck pain.. ...BTDT...

I actually used the SEARCH feature and brought this thread back to find out about totaling a car. I am going to be facing some major repais and wanted an idea what I am going to go through.

It really depends on how the policy is worded. I went round and round with Geico when I bought my car. After they assured me that my policy is based on NADA and what the current market for a specific car is selling for, I got my insurance through them. I've had all kinds of insurance companies trying to get me to move all 4 of my cars over to them, but when I ask what they'd pay for a GN that was totalled, and they said they treat that car as a generic 87 regal, I say "sorry, no deal". Gets them off the phone pretty quick.

So far they are doing everything they can for the car. They are having trouble locating passenger quarter and bumper.
