Had an idea. Chrome stock steering wheel?

Ok I had a brain storm the other day. I was digging through my garage and found the stock steering wheel in my garage. The leather is pretty torn up and I was thinking about pulling the leather off, getting the metal chromed and getting it rewrapped. Anyone ever done this? Think it would be too much?

I found out that it is not chormed, but polished. Looks like chrome.

If I go and if he goes to the meet, I will take a pic.
