I am going down tuesday to surrender my CDL for a "normal" DL. I have had it since 1996 but I have never used it. I got it so I
could get a job as a truck mechanic. I don't like the restrictions they put on you if you posses one. I don't make my living with it
so it's gone Tuesday.

The cops story has a few holes in it about actualy seeing me do it. I was a mile down the road, already made a stop and turned right before he pulled me over. He stated that a citizen flagged him down and told him I almost ran them off the road. (which is BS)
then he said he could hear me stall up the converter and couldn't believe I was doing that in front of him.
So I don't see how if he truely witnessed me doing a burnout why he didn't jump into action and have me pulled over within an 1/8th mile or so.
Also if he saw me doing it then how was he flagged down by a driver?

I think he could hear me doing it but didn't actualy see it. then the other driver came around the corner and said there was a black car that almost hit them. that's why it took a mile to pull me over.
I came to a stop sign 3/4 of a mile down the road. waited for the car in front to turn, rolled up, made my stop, then turned right. went about another 500' and they had to go around a car that was behind me to pull me over. awful lot of time passed from when I "did the burnout" til they pulled me.

Wah wah wah..

Did you light them up?

If so - suck it up, buttercup. Pay the fine, and quit whining.

Jesus...

In the old days (not sure it is still a way out but worth a try) is if they LOOSE SIGHT OF YOU between the infraction and stopping you, how do they KNOW FOR SURE it was you? You just tell them some idiot in another GN just went past you so it must have been him. I got away with that once. Supposedly they have to keep visual contact with the subject. Sounds to me like there was way to much time and way too many turns involved to be sure it was you. Tell them is was some idiot in a GN with a big chicken sticking out of the sunroof.

Lol!

Absolutely sure...a contract is a contract...if you borrow the $....you're obligated to pay it back whether you still have the collateral or not...and the bank does not need to worry about how the borrower loses his car...he still owes on the loan until it's paid off.
If you wreck it and have insurance to cover it...then the insurance pays....but they aint gonna pay if you get busted street racing....they'll just dump you for breech of contract and paying is up to you after that.

Now if you apply to finance a car and tell the bank up front that you need the car for street racing....they'll just tell you to get bent and go get a payday loan or something at 50%.

Sure....the person could always be a dead beat Occupy-er who expects others to bear the burden of his bad choices....but personally...I wasnt raised that way...I pay my debts whether they are under water or not...it's a matter of character and principle...

Yeah, I know all that...I'm just surprised the banks aren't raising hell because it is their car thats being crushed. Banks don't loan $ on character and principle alone. Getting a judgement on someone after they walk from a car loan doesn't guarantee the bank is getting back its investment. Collateral crushed, Lonee walks, Bank is out the $ and are the ones taking the hit because of some douche. Wow. Like I said...suprising.

Car still under payments probably go back to the bank And get sold again. I see what your saying Robsiron car crushed nothing for bank to repo now how do they get their money in a timely order from someone that wont pay. Take your license?

I'm sure they do that (Take your License), too.

You don't really think the State gives a damn about the Bank's interest in all of this, do you?

After all, the people making these laws are elected officials, and are not held accountable to anyone until they are caught.

They say "Screw the Banks, let them sue us!"

Some poor bean counter deep in the bowels of the capital has probably cried "Hey, we can't do this!" but a politician with a self serving agenda quashed his rationalism.

When the Banks do finally sue guess who pays? The elected officails? .

I think not.

In the Republik of Kali, I didn't think that reckless driving was a car-crushable offense, but a speed contest (drag race) they pull your license and can and generally will impound which will go to a car crusher in Pacomia, Kali, where they do crush it. It does not matter whose car it is, nor does it matter if it is paid for or not. You are still responsible to pay it off or get taken to court. But I think that is only for a speed contest (drag racing). I didn't think that they could get the car crushed on a reckless driving charge.

Did you say anything to him that would even hint at guilt when he pulled you over...if you did, you're cooked. They record the conversations typically so that too will come back to haunt you if you challenge it.

Remember a couple of things: Any time I've launched off the footbrake on a public roadway my heart races and I get brutal tunnel vision, bit of an adrenaline dump I guess. I'd say it's quite possible he saw you but you didn't see him. Also remember that the officer cut you a break so if you want to go to court and waste everyones time fighting a ticket you deserved then you probably just made yourself a target for next time. You and every other GN owner in the area. Next time that Unlawful Start ticket turns into a straight reckless or perhaps they aren't as kind to the next GN owner that gets stopped.

We are all big boys and there is a certain risk we assume driving fast street cars. Take it for the team and pay your ticket.

LOL!!! I never thought about it like that Brady87GN.....could you imagine......Every black GN from that point on is gonna get harrassed even when he's just parked having a soda  Guilty by Association!!! what do you think???? What a shame....for God sakes....pay the ticket....theres an old saying on the east coast....When they catch up....You gotta pay up!!!

Off topic - so far this thread only reminds me of why i left californiastan. the car crushing videos illustrating LE methods for reducing theft and street racing are case in point #83. the place is insane with state sponsored theft of property, severe enforcement of victimless crime, reduction of individual liberty, tribalism and self-interest from the capital to the public service unions to urban gang-land, and still can't pay the bills or solve the problems of the perpetration of violence with the restrictions on law-abiding citizens. i wonder how much longer are CA-stan-ites going to put up with this nonsense from the state - so far the answer is...a lot longer.

sorry, should leave this in the lounge... x35 pay the fine, you got off easy.

The day after I bought the gn a friend wanted to see what it could do so off we went. Got to the edge of town at a light and had a straight stretch and the light turned green and I nailed it. A sheriff deputy came over the hill and caught me doing 79 in a 40!!! Opppps! That was a $225 fine. It was my first ticket in over five years so it didn't kill the insurance but the wife freaked out. The sheriffs deputy wasn't very cool about it either. I tried the "it's just a v-6 and I don't think it can get up to that speed in that short of distance". That didn't work to well. The deputy has since been fired. I guess he was always on a power trip with the people he pulled over.

Our city cops are cool. Two of the city cops have STI's that they race.

Nice. Looks like you could hold your own in the PV section. :D

Here in G'ville that smoky stunt would get you 2-3 days in jail at least plus $400-500 in fines. GPD are very, very ticket oriented here strictly a revenue generated policing system unless you are a criminal with no money, then you are free to go no matter what you do or how much damage you cause.

Back in 1991 when I lived in North Miami Beach I was sitting at a light in Ft Lauderdale with my then just restored 72 Stage 1. A Broward County Sheriff pulls up next to me with his windows down and eyeballs the Bright Bronze Stage with the very lumpy cam, Mickey Thompson headers and 3" exhaust doing their thing. We ease off the light and the tires chirp ever so slightly going into second with the 3500 stall converter and very tight new trans. Lights come on, he pulls me over and proceeds to read me the riot act about tickets, jail and confiscation for reckless driving and unsafe start. I tried to explain we were only doing 12-13 mph as I was right beside him but he said race cars have no business on the street and he lets me go with a very stern warning. Jeez!

Point is you never know how a cop will react as back in 1987 was hot rodding around on my way to work in Altamonte Springs (very strict cops) and did not realize some cop was trying to catch me in my 455 Skylark (very fast and he did not run his lights or siren). Anyway he could not keep up and he finally gets me in the parking lot at work with 5-6 other cop cars rolling in. He was going to arrest me for running from persuit but cooler heads prevailed when a female officer listened to my story as I explained he did not turn on his lights or siren so how could I be charged with evading. He admitted that and also he never heard tire squeal or saw tire smoke or actually witnessed me speeding. I got a warning and they all left. Thank you God.

Mikey
