congrats on the fix.

I would add antifreeze to get closer to 50/50 antifreeze for the winter, and then back to water in the summer if it seems like it wants to run hot.

Ummm...I've seen more than a few questionable recommendations from well known members on here.
Let's review shall we:

1 - You live in Michigan
2 - It can reach well below freezing in Michigan
3 - You have no real idea what your current mix is; i.e 50/50; 40/60 etc - or 5/95

For your area - I would not recommend going below 30/60 Ethylene Glycol to Water mixture
(See chart)
Conversely, you should not really go beyond 70/30 either
That is why the ole 50/50 is the oft used rule of thumb.

You can easily measure your current specific gravity (or mixture ratio) using a common auto parts Hydrometer.
Again - I bet the parts stores have one to use if you don't wish to purchase

I guess I think outside of the box. If it were me, I would get one of those cheap $1 testers from Wally*Mart and test the current coolant. If the freeze protection is colder than ambiant at night, I'll watch porn and worry about something else.

If it gets colder than the tester indicates, I'd add some antifreeze then go watch porn and not worry about it.

I always used the tried n true Hydrometer.

No, there's like small turkey basters with floating balls that indicate the freeze level.

Looks like the price went up a couple 'o clams since I bought mine. Still cheeper than a block.

any brand of antifreeze is good danny . just buy a gallon of the pure antifreeze and mix it yourself. when buying the premix 50/50 it's the same price and its half water........

Well when it gets cold I think I'm gonna get the 50/50 but for right now it runs awesome with mostly water

It barely blows hot hair through the vents...but I think my valve covers are leaking and dropping down the back side of the block u get the turbo, it's dripping down onto me crossover and burns it she to the heat and it smokes only when hot

This weekend check all bolts and clamps, , oil pan, timing cover, and the water pump. Install new spark plugs. The
Investment in a scanmaster will increase the life span of your engine also. Goodluck ! Call me if you have any other issues.

LOL - yeah 50/50 mix is for suckas.
Corporations - they will figure out every angle to rip people off.

Any brand of regular anti freeze (green)
I avoid Dex Cool and other similar voodoo potions.

Hey - my kids came from a turkey baster - or at least that's my story.
I really hate to admit I actually resided in the same bedroom with "that woman"

Good to see that Walmart dumbed down a standard Hydrometer - for their target market to be able to understand.
I don't know why they just didn't use icons, like smiley face, frowny face to indicate proper mix.
Or letters A thru F. Not that many of their customers would understand what "A" meant though.
