    Beat a dead horse...

how about a 85 tr motor? There is one for sale that I was thinking of putting in my Monte Carlo SS. It is a slow turd now and was going to intall vortec heads, better cam, intake, headers, true duel exhaust for 1,100.00. Would I be better off with the 85 hot air motor for 500.00? I like t-types...

    Which are good 2004r's

What is a good core price the the mcss tranny? I talked to the guy selling the transmission for $195 and it was sold. He parts out MCss's and 442's and said he would take them out on the highway, nail it and take it to 65mph and if he didn't feel it slip, he sold it as a good running tranny...

    Which are good 2004r's

cool, thanks I just wanted to make sure. I unfortunatly cant really scrummage for cores at junk yards around here, they are getting more and more picky here. Will put out an add for a usable core in the local trading times to find one if the mcss one sold. thanks again :)

    Which are good 2004r's

One more quick question Whould I be wasting my time on rebuilding a non tr, mcss, h/o-442 tranny for performance use? Is there any more difference besides the vb, and servo? I can get a core for $35 and if it is 85 or newer would it be good. Also there is a mcss 200-4r tranny that supposedly...

newguy has questions on "strengthening the 200-4r", sorry

thank you I will order the atsg manual. I am in the process of looking for a good core(junk yards, or toy stores as I think of them) to tear into for reference also. Then when I feel confident enough, I will contact bruce for advise on parts needed for my level of power (small). thanks again...

newguy has questions on "strengthening the 200-4r", sorry

First off, let me say sorry for the long post. Its just that I am very interested in learning a little about the 200-4r transmission. I have a lot of questions regarding the strengthaning topic, and since I am new to transmissions, I don’t fully understand all of this so if you can help feed a...

    Which are good 2004r's

thanks, again Again, that is exactly what I was looking for. I have alot more time on my hands rather than money, but if I decide to rebuild I will go with bruce's parts, when possible. I will go junkyard crawling and since I have plenty of time (no rush, just want to learn ALOT more about...

    Which are good 2004r's

I am going to look for a 200-4r to tear appart and if I get brave enough, rebuild it. So my question is, what tranny codes should I look for, and which ones should I avoid. Most of the yards I go to already pull the trannys so I will not know what they come out of. thanks as always :)

    newguy needs much info

Just what I needed to know! Looks like the only thing I will need IF i decide to rebuild then is the press, low/reverse clutch housing remover/installer, and snap ring pliers. I will purchase the pump assembly from pts when and IF I decide to have a stab at it. Thank you very much for all the...

I want the core to tear down, and get a little more familiar with the internals, I have a haynes manual and will eventually get the ATSG manual, but pics are good but seeing it in person will help me even more. I will use the manual for step by step disasebly and inspection and reasebly. When...

I'm slowly getting it So if I buy the slide, rotor, veins at the same time I should be okay. I think I will go to the junkyard and get a core 2004r to study (had one but had to toss it due to moving and limited space  ) , does $50 sound good for just a core?. What "special" tools will I...

    newguy needs much info

I said it was a stupid question I just took a second look at the exploded view of all the parts in the pump assembly and got confused. I thought the tv boost valve bushing was the actually boost valve. So, does the pst .570 boost valve just fit inside the stock tv boost valve bushing or does it...

Hello, have watched this section on and off for about a year now. I am interested in learning more about our transmisions. I know little about transmisions and want to learn alot more, but this seems to one of the few places to learn. Magazines rarely have articles on the thm 200-4r. So I...
