Windshield trim flew off!

After a little spirited driving after a show the other day, backed the GN into the garage and immediately noticed the top trim piece was gone! Can you guess my first couple of words that were spoken? Car has been up to 140 mph a number of times and the trim has been on the car since it was painted last year. Any additional tips on how to keep this piece from seeing the same fate? Didn't even hear it leave the car. Drove 50 miles in my truck retracing my steps but never really expected to find it much less to find it in one piece!

Found a full NOS set still in the package and after paying a small fortune for them I want to make sure they stay put. Would it be crazy to put a few dabs of silicone in back of them for additional insurance? Any other ideas?

agree, do not use silicone. That will just make a mess for any future body work.

Also thinking some 3M caulk strips? Would put on the inner edge of the molding on the glass. Would help prevent any wind getting under the molding. WHICH metal clips would you recommend? Part #?
