I have some questions about why the stock spindle won't work? The following is what I did:
Purchased following:
2000 CHEVROLET S10 PICKUP 2.2L L4
ACDELCO 15699959 GM Original Equipment Cap Gasket Only
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS ALS547 {#15725355} Includes Sensor & Backing Plate
Napa NB 4886757 Brake Rotor (example pic not what I bought)
EBC Brake Rotor RK7346
Wilwood 140-12097-BK Black Front Caliper Kit
Sorry I will try to update the exact brake rotor I bought from Oreillys, if I can find it, but the above NAPA rotor is what it looks like.
I did the recommended route of buying a spindle, but the guy in Peavely must of said to buy parts for a 2000 S10, to fit the spindle I bought from him, sorry I don't remember, it's been a few months.
So on my car I used his spindle & the above S10 parts, S10 bearings, S10 seals & Wilwood caliper kit(which didn't have to be done) & all seems to fit OK, but I haven't driven my car yet, but the pickup sensor is generating a signal when I spin the wheel.
Now I have another guy in my club that wants to do the same conversion, asking why did I buy that spindle, it looks the same as a GN. So I took the original GN spindle out of the basement installed the sensor backing plate off the junk yard S10 spindle, installed my old bearings & seals that use to be on my car, stock caliper with new pads. Everything seems to fit together & I get signal when I spin the rotor. The only thing I see wrong so far is the pads seem to drag the rotor more than I would expect it too, I'm not a mechanic though. I will try to get a caliper out & measure both rotors to see if it is the same thickness, maybe tonight. I will also take it to my next club meeting to see if they think the dragging is OK.
