Hello everyone!

I am new to this internet conversation process, and I am also new to working on cars. Thanks to debigguy for pointing in the right posting direction.

I have a 1987 Buick Grand National, I pulled the old transmission (200-4r), i.e., I removed everything associated with the tranny to get the tranmission out of the car. I purchased a remanufactured one (200-4r). I re-installed the tranny to the engine using six bolts.

My problem is I cannot re-install the crossmember because the tranny sits too low, and i still need to attach the tranny rear bracket that fits into the crossmember; again the only thing I have done so far is attach the tranny to the engine.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Put some plywood under tranny pan & jack it up until it hits the bottom of the car. Then you will have enuf room to get the crossmember back in. You dont need to remove the crossover to change a tranny for next time.

Thank you Just a Six!
Will I damage the engine, i.e., do I leave the tranny bolted to the engine?
