Times and combos with billet turbos

How much boost do you think it would take to run a 9.9 with a 6265?? I am thinking that will be my next turbo.
28-30psi just like those that have run those numbers with similar combos. 33-34psi if you do t have a purpose built engine.

Same here Im wanting to know what it takes with one of these new Turbos to get into the low 10's what inj. what heads what cam and most of all WHAT BOOST PSI ect. I was told these turbos really dont respond till they are over 28psi.
Im thinking of going to the BB6265 Have a PTE6152E now and dont want to spend $1500 if its not going to go much faster.
If you can get your car to trap 126-127 with a 6152 you're doing good. The t350 turbine in the 6152 and the 65 in the 6265 aren't even in the same league. The compressor in the 6152 will go further than the turbine

Thanks for helping make up my mind!!!! I would venture to say that my engine fits the "purpose built" criteria.

Since Pronto asked, here are the details of my last pass in my GN this weekend:

60...................1.420
330.................4.103
1/8..................6.389
MPH.................109.57
1000................8.390
1/4..................10.111
MPH.................129.62

This is with a Precision Billet 6768
Other mods:
stock crank, stock rods, JE pistons, stock 109 block with billet caps
old school GN1 heads, hyd roller cam, stock intake, precision plenum, old school precision front mount IC
120# precision injectors, precision adjustable fuel pressure regulator, twin in tank walbro pumps
GN1 3.5" DP with external gate, 3" ATR single shot exhaust
TH400 trans with brake and a now blown up precision industries converter
stock rear end with 28 spline moser axles
255-60-15 MT drag radials

Car has ProEFI engine management with flex fuel sensor, boost control, and coil on plug setup. Currently it is the only turbo buick in the country with ProEFI, and when it was tuned by Sound Peformance made 575rwhp on their mustang dyno at 26psi, however it was blowing through the converter pretty bad even at this power level, when we tried to turn the boost up it just blew through the converter even more. This is also obvious in my timeslips as the car only picks up about 20mph between the 1/8 and the 1/4 when it should be picking up more like 25mph.

After the 10.11 pass which was also in a 35mph headwind, I decided to uncork the dump on the DP to try to rip off a 9.9X... but when i let go of the tbrake button it blew up the converter instead... oh well. I plan on replacing with a PTC converter, and with no other changes expect to see signifigant improvement at the track even at the same boost level, as well as be able to turn it up to 30-35psi and put more power down since the converter will handle it.

Up until the converter carnage this weekend, I had put about 3500miles on it this year with this combo, and driven to the track and raced and driven home at least 8 times, and other than when i would pedal it on a soft dial in bracket racing, every full throttle pass i made in the car was between 10.20 and 10.39 at 128-133mph with 1.5X 60 foots... this weekend the only change i made was turning the two step up to get the 60 down... which worked, but also brought me the untimely demise of the converter that I knew all season needed to go....

QUOTE=John Wilde;2886383]A friend just went 10.78 ET @ 127 on his second pass with a new motor.
The turbo is a 6265, I am hoping this car to has a 9.9 in it.
I will let him post the details if he would like.[/QUOTE]

John: I finally am receiving notifications about threads that I wanted to follow. Sorry I have lagged in responding.

Second run at Noble was 10.78 @126.97 on 93 octane fuel and dual line alky system. Boost was in 20's through 1st and 2nd, creeped up to 22 in 3rd. These are PL computed amounts; gauge shows a # or so lower. Picked up nearly 27 MPH in the back half of the track which pleased me. Car was and still runnng PIG rich and with help from some others, we have decided that the fuel pressure regulator is not controlling the extra fuel generated by the Detschewerks 300lph pump. New pump is on its way and I'm going to fix a leak with the methanol system.

Car spools much faster than I imagined it would and it doesn't miss a beat with the roller cam. Running about 75 in 3rd at half throttle and wanted to see how it pulled in 3rd at that point; it down shifted into 2nd, spun the tires hard and I did the "webble wobble" well into the 90's.
Don't need to do that test again.

Will let you know how this turns out.

Have to get this thing running like a bat of out hell darn quick. We've had 20+ earthquake tremors here in Central Oklahoma since Saturday night, we historically have about 50 a year, with one of them being the strongest ever recorded here and 2 more that are in the top 5. We've also had tornadoes all over the state today with tornado watch on until 4 tomorrow morning. I don't ever recall having one of them in November but we also had our first ever February tornado this year.

Here is my combo.

1/8th mile MPH is good but the time sucks imo. Finally got the 330 where I want it. Now I am going to work on the 660

I am real happy with the 9.77. I worked my arse off on this car this summer. I just put this engine in the car over the winter. It was a bone stock car when I got it last year. My work on the year included: 5 torque converters, 6 different tracks, 236 data logs...that means at least 250 1/4 mile passes (data logger don't always do what its supposed to lol) an engine freshen up in September, an exhaust guide through the turbo ($550 repair), 3 sets of tires, 2 different fuels (even tried nitrous for a few outings...blew out an intake gasket even lol...that was the end of that), 2 different gears, lots of trial and error tunning, etc....
no wonder the summer flew by!

You deserved that time! Lots of time, effort and money.

I'm glad for you.

Good job man, I bet you would pickup with valve springs if you haven't changed them yet.

IMHO, the headers and throttle body are overkill for the combo.... and could be hurtin the 60' just a little.... but it is hard to argue with the results......again... good job.

What was the boost?

What was the 60'?

What was the 1/8 ET and MPH?

How many pounds of boost are you running?

That's one of the faster 5857s listed here. Times show it right in the TA49/TE44 range for most users.
