Okay I'm lazy and I've done searched and searched again. I'm looking for the VIN of the first 1987 turbo Regal that was built. We all know what the VIN of the last that was built is. I think I read a thread that was posted here that had the first and last VIN for a turbo Regal listed. I already have the first and last VINs for the 1986 turbo Regals. I lucked out and found a recall bulletin from GM that listed them.

I'm bored so I took up a new hobby. Searching for unique VINs on eBay and AutoTrader.com. I'll post some of them as I run across them.:)

Eric, trust me, you're not bored. Being a car guy in the Snowbelt in January is bored.

Well heck! I answered my own question. Check out this thread for the VIN sequence for 1986 and 1987 and the 1985 hot air cars built in Pontiac that came with Powermaster brakes. http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/brakes-suspensions-tires-wheels/230573-help-gm-safety-recall.html
INVOLVED ARE CERTAIN 1985, 1986 AND 1987 REGAL 3.8L TURBO ENGINE COUPES WITH POWERMASTER BRAKE SYSTEM BUILT WITHIN THE FOLLOWING VIN BREAKPOINTS

YEAR MODEL PLANT FROM THROUGH 1985 REGAL TURBO COUPE PONTIAC FP400004 FP427709 1986 REGAL TURBO COUPE PONTIAC GP201039 GP459261 1987 REGAL TURBO COUPE PONTIAC HP400001 HP465289

Looks like Job 1 in 1987 was 400001.

Here's another thread that might be interesting to you other number crunchers. VIN Question?? - TurboBuicks.com

In my quest to find the oldest TRs for sale I ran across two notables on eBay this last week.
First up is this 86 GN. eBay Motors: Buick : Grand National (item 120232764953 end time Mar-22-08 10:44:00 PDT)
Well it isn't 86 #3 as the first one started with VIN #201039 but it gets points for having a lot of zeros in it. Too bad Dale Earnhardt is dead. But than the only GN he ever liked was mine. (Long story, I'll post it someday)
Next is this 85 GN. eBay Motors: Buick : Grand National (item 140214347756 end time Mar-16-08 14:15:11 PDT) VIN numero uno out of Pontiac was 400004 and so far this was the lowest number I've run across to date for the 85.

Well I still haven't found the oldest cars out there but I think I'm going to play the lottery today. What do you think the odds of finding two sequental GNs built on eBay are? Well not as high as it should be seeing as Buick built 20,193 GNs for 1987. Check out these two auctions. GNs number 465206 and 465207. And to top it off they are the 82nd and 83rd from the last GN built. Too bad there weren't any build dates listed as it would be kind of neat to see how fast they were kicking the late build cars out anyway.

A lady that works with my wife worked on the assembly line building GN's. She could not believe we let our son have one. Anyway her father was an engineer at Buick and worked on the Turbo Buick project. I wish he was still alive as I am sure he could help out on this subject.

Why couldn't she believe you let your son have one?
