Springfield arms XD40

Recoil isn't such a consideration on semiauto pistol. Might help to train her with a 22 pistol tho. The lessened noise and absolute lack of recoil will give her confidence as much as anything when she picks up the real thing, instead of doing the instinctive woman thing of leaning back ballancing her breasts and butt in some awkward stance of recoil anticipation. Revolvers have instant recoil that reinforces that problem and makes hard to train against sometimes.

I love my XDM, I wasn't comfortable with the XD tho. Be sure she handles it and likes the feel. Be sure to put the female hand size backstrap on it for gunstore handling even so she's sure about the rear grip safety. But remember it's not like she's marrying the thing. If she decides it's not for her after a month of ownership, just buy another one! I know many are, but I'm not an M&P fan at all. The PX4 Storm's are very ergonomic, and my new favorite is the Walther PPQ!
