Long story short, drunk driver hit my truck and trailer while parked in my yard and now about to buy a replacement truck. Going back with a 2017 proline 18' open hauler.

The l33/4l60e did the job for what I needed traveling to a couple tracks an hour and half away. But am now looking to upgrade to something a little beefier. On the table are 2 trucks...

2004 lb7 White (duramax) cclb 2500hd truck 2wd 150k. This truck is a beast and will barely fit in my drive way measuring in at 22.3'. I've done my homework and aware of the injector issues with this rig. It's a $1000 dollar repair and from what I've seen it can become time consuming. Out the door 15k

2008 2500hd ltz 4x4 package white with 130k. Comes with the gas ly6 6l and 6spd 4l90e transmission. ext cab leather/loaded. Beautiful truck but not a fan of the boxy style 08+ stlye chevy trucks. 12k out the door! Clean car fax and I've put down a $300 deposit on it.

Shoot me some thoughts.

Neither of them. I'd go with a 2008-up Ford F250 Super Duty with a diesel engine. (y) Of course, I'm biased…I have an '08 F350 dually and it's the best truck I ever had.

6.4 or 6.7? Yeah I'd like to find a good priced 6.7 ford. For gas engines I will stick with gm though.

Dont buy a ford, thats like flushing money down the toilet

I have the 6.4 in mine. Never had a problem with it. I also bought a programmer and "tweaked" the parameters a little…:D…makes a LOT more power now! (y)

My buddy just had to put a $6000 reman in his 6.4l. Don't know what caused it but it threw a rod and split the block.

ONLY if you do your own work.....
Chuck, the lb7's seem they require a certain level of dedication to keep them running strong. Think I'm going to stick with the tried and true ly6 gas powered 2500. Plus the 08 is 4wd and a few grand cheaper.

A tune for the lb7 to increase power to 500rwhp is very tempting though lol. Plus I've got an s467 that would be the shiznit on that engine.
