I done a f*&k up, built the motor in a hurry to get it ready to wrap and delivered to be installed. After returning to my work home i noticed the cam button on the shelf. Has anyone ran there motor without one? My motor is a hyd. cam with stock everything but the camshelf. The motor is now in the body and hate to remove the front cover and install it if it really has not be installed. But it can be done with the only thing that would have to be done is remove the front cover with water pump installed and remove the balancer and pulley.

I have never ran without one and I don't think I'd try it either. The camshaft would probably do some serious "walking". For the labor involved in pulling the front cover, I think it's worth it to put it in. Just my .02 :)
