a T-Type is NOT a Grand National

We all need to realize that when most people say "nice monte" they know what the car is, they also know that it is not a monte, and lastly, they also know that most turbo Buick owners, especially GN owners, can't stand for the car to be called a monte. If it is somebody that you believe really does not know what the car is, then we need to politely educate them. If you think that they really know what the car is, then we need to do a little reverse psychology and agree with them. Tell them that they only made 1500 of the "Aerocoupe with a GN motor/drivetrain". When they come closer to look at it, then they generally figure that they have been had, and they don't like it one bit, either. Most of these people that comment about the car being a monte just can't see why GN owners get so excited when their car is called a monte. Try agreeing with them . It actually works well.

i think of the basic three different styles of turbo regals.
1) buick regal t-type (later on 87,turbo t)
2)buick regal grand national
3)buick regal grand national gnx
im mostly refering to cars 84-87.

I have one......am I an outcast?????

We're all outcasts, It's not like we're the in group or crowd. Buick owners will always be outcasts, sort of like looking in, and it's kool, too. People that want to be in the "In crowd" are probably driving upscale small BMW's or Benz's, or something like that. People that don't want to be in the "Rude, Crude, and Socially Unacceptable" catagory shouldn't own turbo Buicks.

i have a race (grudge match) comimng up with my uncle he has a nova and he asked me what car will i race him with i told him my regal.
when i talk to anyone out side of the buick world i say i have a '87 regal.
i don't even bother to say "its like a GN or turbo engine" the way i see it is after they get smoked they will know what type of car it is.
when i am asked what type of engine does it have i say " its just a 307".

Let's not forget the people that own WE-4's. We're so confused that we don't tell people that we have a GN. They tell us. :)

I've owned my car since 1988 and people are always coming up to me and asking me if I still have my GN. I don't usually correct them. When I do try to educate them the most effective way I've found to describe the car is that it is the same thing to a GN that an LX 5.0 is to a Mustang GT. Most people seem to understand that comparison.

I also own a '68 Camaro SS 396 that everyone calls a Z-28 because I have a cowl hood on it.

Don't feel bad, I'm really an outcast. My Turbo T has GN wheels and Limited Interior. :p
haha mine too....I guess we just have our rides handled the right way!!!I think the T looks bad ass with the GN rims!!

personally I liek it the other way around....GN's with T wheels...of course then its basically an 84/85 GN or a WE4...but oh well :p

I can them turbo buicks all the time...you never really know if that bright yellow "Turbo T" with no emblems started out as a GN!

I saw a post about loving the white ones...my first exposure was that GN's were black and T-Types were white - those were the only two colors :)

why you t guys getting so deffensive??  ive always wanted to put a flat hood on a limited t and destroy some mustangs,camaros,etc.. :D
we need to educate when we can,i guess that is my point, without looking like an a$$.i guess ive already done that

I am saying that you have to judge each set of circumstances as they comed along and make a determination as to whether the person really does not know the difference, or if they do and are just saying that to get a rise.
And yes, it has been my experience that at least about half of the people saying that are just stroking you. And maybe they are not being as ass, they just want attention and to see if they can get your goat. Somewhere they have heard that Gn owners don't take a liking to that. Wouldn't you settle to just verbally abuse him a little.

yeah, well we forgot to take our salt tablets today - so you best watch you you say around here! :D

That's a good analogy. Cosmetics are the only difference, just like the Mustang GT and LX5.0.
I have friends who call my Regal a "poor mans GN". Oh well, some will never learn.

i am taking the OE wheels off
and i am going to put a flat hood
removing all "T" stuff
and getting some plain regal stuff.
and a sticker on the back glass "V8s rule"
