    A\C Pivot Arm Clip

I working on an 87 GN and I'm looking for the little white plastic clip that attaches the threaded rod behind the glove box to the pivot arm which is controlled by the temp cable. The clip inserts into the pivot arm and then attaches to the rod that goes into the evap box and I believe moves a...

Check bearing and change timing chain

I recently pulled my dampner (balancer). I removed the crankshaft bolt and the balancer slid off the crankshaft, no puller required. It's not necessary to separate the pulley from the balancer, unless space becomes an issue. You shouldn't have to remove the crank sensor to just remove the balancer.

Any Police Crown Victoria owners here?

I will say this, the 4.6L was pretty much bullet proof if they weren't overheated. You could run them hard from the day they were delivered and never worry about it. I'm pretty sure most of the electrical problems I mentioned were the result of large electrical loads and excessive idling. I...

Any Police Crown Victoria owners here?

I put quite a few miles on several Crown Vic's. The problems that I remembered as being common were with the alternator, ignition coils and electric fans. For the most part, they hold up pretty well under some heavy duty use. In its police configuration, they didn't perform much different than a...

    ECM Temp

Is it normal for an ECM to get extremely hot during normal operation? I haven't put a thermometer on it but its hot enough to where I avoid touching it.

    Valve Train Noise?

Thanks for the information and suggestions. My initial thought was to pull a valve cover and see if I have a broken rocker shaft or try and check cam lift with a dial indicator. I agree that pulling the intake would be a good idea, so it looks like that's what I will be in the near future. I'm...

    Valve Train Noise?

Well thanks for commenting and I wish it had an oil pressure gauge as well but I just bought it and it didn't have one. The car actually does have a Scanmaster (It's listed by my signature) and for now It's what I'm using for monitoring timing retard. Also, the oil pressure switch is present and...

    Valve Train Noise?

Thanks Ken. I'll be checking it out next week, it would be nice if it was just a few lifters.

    Valve Train Noise?

I'm a new GN owner and figured I'd ask a few questions before I start on an un-educated wild goose chase. My car is an 87' and i have no idea what internals the engine has. Peaking in through the oil filler hole in the valve cover, it appears to have stock rocker assemblies. It has quite a few...
