Hello need help choosing a roller cam

My engine is sorta close to what you have; I'm running a 6265BB turbo and the Comp Cam 210/215 roller along with an Edge 9" lock-up converter. The car is a ball to drive on the street and before the rebuild, it ran 6.80/104 in the 1/8 mile. I don;t know how much different it would be than a...

    Boost backfire rough idle

Had similar problem with our car back in '99. Tried everything we could think of , then one day while on lift we noticed the heat shield for starter was loose. The little metal plate that bolts to the block just above the starter...it was loose and was randomly hitting the positive battery post...

    Map/ Dome Light.

Yes, sort of...little flat sheet metal things.....They push up over the stud and they have little "barbs" in the center that hold to the post. They're a real PITA to get off because of the design; they're not a conventional nut, and there's no real tool to take em off. We used a small...

    Map/ Dome Light.

Hello, We recently installed an LED dome light from Kirban products. If you look under the headliner you should be able to see two "studs" coming down, front to back, from the roof....the front one appears to be shorter; we thought ours was actually broken off, but it was just shorter. The...

Replacing timing set, should I install with advance?

Thundertaod.....thanks for the printable degree wheel; all I need now is some cardboard. This is a great idea for those who don't do it often...I'll keep these in with my metal wheel. Bob

Replacing timing set, should I install with advance?

I just installed my 210/215 roller 4 degrees advanced ; checked with degree wheel straight-up , then advanced. I like advance on a street car. FWIW, the "straight up" marks were right on. Most stuff today is better/more accurate than 40 years ago, but it helps to check if you can. Bob

Flat tappet cam & timing chain wear after 10 k

I put a brand new timing chain, nice and tight on a BB chevy, then went to the dyno. After about 40 minutes of break-in time plus about ten pulls, I removed timing cover to swap cams. If I had not been the one to put the new chain on I would have never believed it was new...it had stretched...

    Bracket for transmission lines

Hello, Just got a car back together/running, but can't figure out what holds tranny lines secure to oil pan. Can someone tell me how many brackets or clips there are for the two hard lines, and where exactly do they attach to the engine or frame?? Thanks, Bob

The last plug passenger side, damn you plug !

I learned a trick from a guy years ago working on BB chevy header that was a PITA..take a 12-16" piece of vacuum hose and stick it on the tip of the spark plug..use that as a flex-joint/plug holder to get the plug twisted into the hole, then go with the long extensions, swivels,u-joints, hammer...

Water and oil gauge upgrade question

Not sure if this helps, but I installed an electric Autometer oil and water several years ago. Don't remember instructions, but I do know we tossed the factory oil sending unit and taped up the wires and it runs fine. All we have is the autometer oil sending unit and ONE blue wire going to it...

    Lost oil pressure at idle

Took one of our cars to track back in June 2014...made three nice runs, but after third run before shutting it off, we heard a slight "tick"...like a valve or maybe a lifter, but nothing heavy, like a rod or main. Started it again and ran at idle to listen,, oil pressure fine, but slight...

    Rough running fresh engine start

Rough running appears to be gone. I took car out tonite for some road miles. Ran it about 45 minutes' filled alky tank and did some mild pulls to about 14# boost. Engine ran solid, 175 degrees water, oil pressure about 15 hot and instant rise when gas pedal touched, 45 cruise and 60...
