    Well, I was wrong. I started it up again, and within a couple seconds, the tinging was gone, and the smoke burned off within a few minutes. It was just oil on the manifolds, like I thought. I guess synthetic smells a lot different than my older cars burned oil... I just have one part left...

    I had the intake off, and the timing cover off. Now the timing cover is back on, and I was cleaning the intake and this thing fell off from somewhere. I am sure someone knows what this does. I decided not to go further until I figured out where this thing goes.

    The body bushing next to the downpipe often melts. Is the frame leaning, or just the body? Measure the frame to ground, as well as the body.

    Yes, it's brand new, arg... as if the title of the thread wasn't clear. I don't have any papers other than the box, though, if you bought it from anywhere else, all you get is an "Eaton" sticker and I think I got a product survey card with the posi I bought for my GN a couple years ago.
