Hi Fellas
Have any of you ever made a repair on the ignition key area on the column and if so how did you do it. Pictures would be great

Or would It be easier to replace the column?

Read that article!! You will need a steering wheel puller and Lock plate removal tool. If you have a wobble in your tilt column then you also need to buy a Pivot pin remover tool! Buy a New GM ignition they are chrome not black!

Just saw your picture on the other thread! Time to buy a donor column or get a good used one!! Whoever was trying to break into the car did not know what the hell they were doing if they broke that piece off!

I was hoping I didn't have to change steering columns I have been working on this car constantly for the last 4 months, I may have to live with this for a while

The problem is where you gonna find that piece other than another column! Takes about 15min to take out the column and about 30 min to put back. Other option look into Steadfast column lock.

I have a nice NON Tilt column for floor shifter FOR SALE, unusual, but very hard to get. I wish I can use it, but I have a column shifter now.

You'll never have the wobble again and it won't come crashing down if you put your weight on it.

It's the right gray color too.

Good luck selling that at the price listed!

Thank you for your kind words! That's what I paid for it and if someone is interested in buying it, not just making comments and butting into someone else's business, they will make an offer.

I know I don't know if I want to tackle it or not
I'm tired of working on this car. I may just deal with it

I rebuilt the entire column on my project car. Looks and feels brand new. I replaced just about every component. The only thing that was hard to find was the the lower plastic cover. I eventually found one on ebay. I don't remember it being that hard at all. I believe I used grey SEM spray paint and it was a very close match.

Be careful of what kind of turn signal switch you use. I bought one and it was a cheap piece of crap and didn't cancel the signal very well after turing the wheel.

You would be better off replacing the whole column. It comes out pretty easy. I could have it out in about 30 minutes or less. Going back in always takes a little more time but prolly a 2 hour job when all is said and done.

My column was smashed when my GN was stolen. Grab yourself a good used column.
