    Dusty Bradford Crashed at Huntsville

Yeah, the wreck was pretty scary to watch. Donnie Key (the other car) was up on two wheels when he came in front of Dusty. Had Dusty not turned to miss him, he would have sent Donnie into a roll or over the wall. The roll cages did exactly what they are meant to do. Glad everyone is ok.

    Usb serial port question

Be sure that the laptop doesn't already have a COM1 already installed in the device manager. Some laptops will do this in spite of the fact that they don't have a serial port on the back of the machine. You can also check the BIOS to make sure that it's not trying to allocate any resources to...

Need help with C-com 1.3 and XP

If you're at all interested, here is the reason that the DOS version of C-Com won't work under Windows NT/2000/XP. Windows NT/2000/XP have what is called a HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer). What this does it keeps software (drivers, programs, etc.) from getting a direct hook on the hardware...

    C-ComWP and USB to Serial

Are you talking about upping the port speed so the laptop reads the sensor output faster? If so, I've never tried that before so I dunno if it'll have any effect or not. My gut feels says that it won't less you're trying to run the dash that has every sensor known to man logging. The worst...

    C-ComWP and USB to Serial

You're not going to notice any huge change in speed by altering your port rate up. The files are all so small that transferring to or from the ECU takes no time at all. If the .gct files were very large, then moving the port speed up would reduce the time it takes to load a tune into the ECU...

FAST b2b vs XFI vs Accel DFI vs BigStuff

Indeed, preignition is a nasty animal. I, however, have never seen an issue where preignition was caused by the fine silt of carbon that may build up on internal parts. That doesn't mean that it's not an issue or won't become one as I am not the end-all, be-all when it comes to tuning.

FAST b2b vs XFI vs Accel DFI vs BigStuff

As many cars as I've seen at the track that aren't tuned for proper idle without huffing some black smoke, I've yet to see one suffer any ill effects of preignition of the silty carbon that is built up on any of the internal parts. I'm not saying that what is being done is correct, but until...

FAST b2b vs XFI vs Accel DFI vs BigStuff

I didn't mean "snatched up" to sound negative at all. Moreso, I think that MSD see that there is probably some potential to make money there so they got on it. I won't fault them for that. I was, however, unaware that they made a deal instead of an outright purchase. I, too, have seen...

FAST b2b vs XFI vs Accel DFI vs BigStuff

I haven't personally fiddled with anything other than C-Com to any great degree; I've not even seen the AEM stuff. I've read of your exploits with reprogramming the stock computer to very good results. I wish the aftermarket would offer up something like that. You should market that stuff, as...

FAST b2b vs XFI vs Accel DFI vs BigStuff

I very well may get bitten by that one, but I'd be willing to bet that there is no discernable amount of power to be found going from one system to another. I could be way wrong there, but probably won't bet my paycheck on it. :D

FAST b2b vs XFI vs Accel DFI vs BigStuff

In all reality, you're not going to see a huge difference in any of the units. The biggest differentiation among any of them is familiarity with the software. XFI still uses C-Com, but it's a newer version of the software. It's also has the ability to log several other auxillary inputs, but...

Stupid Picture and Video Friday good bye ........................

No way!! C'mon now...even though I don't have a turbo Buick anymore, this is still my first stop on Friday mornings for the video links. They've always been a source of comedy for me and my co-workers. Thanks again for making my day a bit brighter by posting them! :D

Stupid Picture and Video Friday ........................................

The dude that owns the yellow TT Viper also had a red one that is supercharged. It's been a 9.66 on drag radials, and was dubbed the most legitimate street car at the first Hot Rod Pump Gas drags. He's also a really cool cat to boot. :D
