    Rear end Woes...

based on that description in the link, it looks like the second 10 bolt with the larger "Ears" showing outside the diff cover on the bottom. So it appears it's an 8.5" which is good...now to just find an eaton to fit it. I guess we will go ahead and put the 3.42's back in it... I threw out a...

    Rear end Woes...

I'm a ford guy...explain how to identify. I basically turned the driveshaft about 2.75 times to get one rotation on the rear wheel. might explain why the speedo seems off. I've fixed most of the previous owner's hodgepodge of parts and bad fitting exhaust. Rear end and an alignment should...

    Rear end Woes...

So we were almost finished restoring this 87 we bought back in March and I am hearing a pretty good whining coming from the rear, usually while a load is applied and not coasting. Figuring it's the bearings going out so it's time to rebuild the entire rear end and put an eaton in this sucker...

There was an 87 that had a rollover in Rowlett about 3 weeks ago. He was looking for $4k for the entire car...still started and runs. Might search craigslist and DFWmustangs.net for the info.

Yes, and thank you very much. I was working on this last night and it was very dark. took another shot at it today with better light and fitting my fat butt under the dash. Found an empty slot for a "20" fuse. Dropped it in and voila, the wires were the previous unit were tied in powered...

    auxillary water temp gauge...?

Where are you guys putting auxillary water temp sending units? Also, it appears there are two stock sending units on our 87....which controls what? I know on some mustangs, one sensor is for the computer to control engine related tuning...the other controls the cooling fan. Still learning...

    Need help identifying a converter.

Getting ready to order one of the TT chips and trying to determine which converter was installed in this car. Previous owner has/had no clue. See pictures. Stamped steel "bell" only has a 69L and a 20 stamped in it and is about 10" across. The rest appears to be a custom welded plate/base...

    pushrod questions

well, I am thinking we have stock rockers so.... what was in the car were 8.651" actual length. Comp Measuring rod shows 8.84" needed. Need to add the pre-load to that length and find the ones we need on comp's site. Don't think I am smokin' crack but I might go measure it again...

    Champion CNC Irons FS.

I did a search to look for previous sale prices so starting at $700+ shipping from 77845. Heads have at least 10k miles on them and that is all I know. They have the roller springs we took off the aluminum GN1's. Otherwise, as delivered from Champion with no visual issues. Just dirty from...

GN newb with some engine questions...

No water/antifreeze in the oil...not a drop actually. The aluminum heads were delivered from Cottons friday so they are the latest design with fewer issues...other than needing new pushrods! Motor has been on the stand for the last couple weeks now. Not worried about going 10's but did...

GN newb with some engine questions...

Yep. you about to scare me?! LOL! While putting the heads on last night, I found one dowel pin that was about .030" too long. I am sure that added to the head gasket failure. Shorblock doesn't appear to be rebuilt as recent as claimed. It seems like it might have as much as 5000...
