Converted To Turbo LS. Does it hurt value?

I will say I apologize for putting so much ls swap "hate" into the thread being that its in a ls area of the board I just got a little passionate about it and this particular thread involved someone in the crossroads so I wanted to express my emotion on the topic.

That being said I will refrain from continuing

Treed. :D

but constantly replacing shit your blowing up and spending way to much money on outdated shit takes more "knowledge and skill" in your eyes.

ill take the ls and not need the crutch of alky, or go out and have to spend alot more money on heads cam intake etc etc and make more power then 90 percent of 109s on stock shit.

i went down the 109 path and it sucked dick.
If your constantly blowing shit up...then YOUR doing something wrong...and will probably continue to blow shit up no matter what you choose to start with. Forced induction of any kind is a grenade just waiting for the perfect opportunity to go off. The Northern Ohio /Pa region is full of Turbo Buicks and not too many tragedies to report. No more then supercharged Mustangs or LS cars. It's all in not pushing your parts beyond their designed limits.
Where do you get your info from anyway??? What constitutes "outdated"? The HEMI engine used in Top Fuel and Funnycar is still the basic design from 1964. It can make 1000hp per slug...far out performing any other engine ever conceived. The LS engines are taking flight because they are cheap and available...no other reason. It's all in what you want. Don't expect anyone else to understand or like your choice. I have 4 cars that are all on the rare to very rare list. That's my choice...to be different then the crowd. If you wanna blend in...build your LS...but stop the bickering and go talk it up on the LS forum. I'm not one for ANY conversions. I voted against the top car in the Riddler Award one year because it was a Ford Rod with a Chevy engine. They had $200,000 in this car...so it wasn't done on a budget...PUT A DAMN FORD ENGINE IN IT!!!! Well it lost...
Do as you like...but maybe keep it to yourself...

Oh yeah...Alky is an Octane enhancer used by any forced induction engine running lower octane fuel. It's not a "crutch".

Have a good one

Look, I'm all for someone doing what makes them happy with their car, I might not care for it, but it's not my car so my opinion doesn't mean diddly. I'm an old guy, I can live with that.:p

However that wasn't my point.

If you don't want to "put up " with people like gtrfede, then don't go looking for them, that's all I'm saying.

yea i hear ya there.

i also LOL'd pretty hard at "the kid" remark

lol ya it has nothing to do with how bad the motors flow or how you cant run big boost on stock motors right? lol. even with alum heads guys still need alky,

if its not a crutch why do some many guys run it? because they want to? NO because they need to, i know because in 08 i was accepted to run in hotrod magizines pump gas drags, which clearly stated no meth in the rules, i had to bow out because the car couldnt run without it. (stock headed 109), thats also why in all 4 or 5 years of running pumpgas drags you never saw 1 turbo buick in there..hmmmm

Heaven forbid a v6 with 20:1 compression in boost needs some octane (racegas or alky) to make A LOT of power....talking dynamic compression btw...you want a pump gas king a 5xx+ big block with 10:1 would be what you need.....ANYTHING boosted would make more power with alky

I got ls headers and hotside for sale from my turbo ls project I didn't finish for sale. Just a plug here.. Back to the normal scheduled winter argument. Pm me if interested.

I'm pretty sure junkyard LQ9's get turbo'd and make a fairly reliable 900whp with no meth lol

They are at least 10:1 compression ratio

Yeah...my friends HEMI does the same, but it's on high octane fuel...it's not 93 pump gas. Power adders are used in 90% of any high performance application. NOS, Meth, Propane...all "crutches"!!!

I can tell from this response that your just a tad clueless on the entire high performance scene. Rusty Silver Bullet just went 10's with a complete un opened shitbox and NO ALKY...but he knows how to tune these piss poor, bad flowing engines. I forgot that ALKY was solely invented for the Turbo Buick engine and none other.
Guys run it because they can. Racegas is $9.00 a gallon. I can't get Racegas in my area except at the track. I get 25-30 gallons of Meth and just pull up to the gas station and away I go. It's convenient...it's safe and in 7 years...never and issue.
You obviously know nothing about fuel properties...try to run my Max Wedge car on 93 pump gas. It's got 13:1 compression. It needs octane. Boost is compression...compression needs octane.
"Even with aluminum heads guys still need it..." What the hell does aluminum heads have to do with running Alky or not?!?!? You need some school'n and then come back to make valid points. Your comments were more random then the DNA tests on the Maury Show...

Also nitro-methane injection on top of 93... Zoom zoom

Coach you need to shorten your sig a bit so we don't have to scroll so far down. John Force don't thank that many people................just sayin :D

Coach I think u will need a bigger regulator to match u against an LS

If you got rid of your flip phone you could use the smart phone app and never see a signature again lol. You could chit talk from anywhere!

I'm not trying to match shit...
The guys remarks, about most everything, are as random as a dart board. 2 of my friends have LS cars...I don't have an issue with anything other then cutting or ruining a "collector" car in doing so.

I here ya!! But what is fun is when u still bust there ass with little ci. But just like a Buick u need a lot more parts than just an ls. Unless u are going and picking one up every month out of a junk yardand spraying the hell out of it
