Just put down 573rwhp/640ft lbs with a 6265

I got Et Street Radials, 275/60/15. They look and feel like they'll hook plenty well. Unfortunately I am having a problem with a coupler between the IC pipe and IC..keeps blowing off, going to have to order a different coupler. Should make it by next week.

I refer to these type of incidents as "Gremlins". They are just part of racing but better at home than at the track.

You need the best clamps you can get to keep them in place. I spray hairspray inside the silicone hoses which does 2 things: makes it easier to slide the hoses on and the spray is sticky enough to help keep the hose on. You don't want to blow off the up pipe at the throttle body; that will really screw up your hood insulator in a couple of places.

I've heard via the grapevine that a buddy of mine who is running a turbo 6 in a stripped down 2600 lb Vega, ran 10.34 last week on 25#'s boost and I think he was using one of my old turbos. Hopefully, the crazy weather here will go away and we can hook it up at the track.

Spray hair spray on the pipe and inside the coupler before you put it on. I've have good luck with that

I was typing same info when you were sending.:D That trick does work.

I've done the hair spray trick before. I now use spray can glue that works much better. We use the stuff at my job but I'm sure lowes would carry it. Good luck at the track!

I've used that to patch up my hood insulator after the up pipe blew off at the TB. Good stuff.

Sorry Guys, but I gotta disagree with all the "bandaids" people come up with trying to keep the up-pipe from blowing off. I had the same problem with mine at 27psi or higher and I spent a lot of money trying things that people recommended (larger/stronger clamps, thicker/stiffer hoses, etc) and nothing worked and the hood liner kept getting ripped apart. Under boost the up-pipe is being blown backwards off the TB so the best solution is to prevent it from moving backwards at all.

I made my own up-pipe brace that worked the instant I put it on and has held on at 30psi of boost. Here's my build-up thread I did so people can see what I did:

That's pretty sweet; but plenty have made an up pipe on the TB stay on at a lot more than 30psi without such methods. I'm sure it does work though.

I agree but I don't consider hairspray a permanent/advisable solution if someone cares about their hoodliner. I think the issue may come from that there may not be a large enough lip on my TB to keep the hose from sliding off. The lip on my TB was only .020 deep which wasn't enough to grip the hoses tight enough given the different parts I tried to keep them on.
Given the prices of hood liners these days, and knowing what I know now, I would not take a chance w/o a brace to hold it on.

Only blown off the up pipe once and that was with my current turbo.

I'd like to know what you define as "Stupid Power"?

Unfortunately I am STILL having problems keeping hoses from blowing off. I ordered the GN1 uppipe and it doesn't fit well. Had it cut and welded, much better, now I'm blowing off the coupler from the turbo to the IC. I just ordered 2 of those double bubble type couplers and several new T bolt clamps to replace some of the cheap hose clamps. I hope to have everything held together by next week and hopefully hit the track Friday. Fingers crossed.

I'm running 25psi on the street and haven't had any problems with couplers. (Knock on wood)

I've run 35psi with no problems. The hose needs to pass the bead by at least the thickness of the clamp. If there's no bead, the hose is too short, or the clamp is the wrong size then there is no integrity and it will probably blow off. Usually happens when you are racing someone.

Yea, when the pipe first blew off, and was pretty much destroyed, a GTR just happened to be next to me at a light. I didn't think he was going to do anything, wouldn't even look over at me. I figure, what the hell, I'll hammer it anyway - well, me not thinking he was really going to do anything, I just hit it when the light turned green. Of course it takes a second to spool, well the GTR's do not. He was across the intersection before I knew what happened. Well I fully floor it (had the ET Street's on) and sure enough the needle swings to 28 and POW!! Up pipe blows off, at both ends, hanging in the engine bay only by the alky line, banging on the pavement as I'm coasting to the side of the road like a loser. GTR is gone.

We rig up some vacuum cleaner hose and duct tape to get home..so that's what started this whole mess. Precision doesn't make that IC anymore, nor do they have any up pipes. Closest one I can find is from GN1 Performance..still doesn't fit well. Have it cut and rewelded..still having problems because all the angles aren't just perfect. I ordered 2 of the double hump hoses and several T bolt clamps so I think once these parts arrive next week it should all hold together. We'll see.

Bring your vacuum cleaner hose and duct tape with you on your test runs just in case it doesn't hold..

If your new pipe doesn't work give me a hollar and I can weld what ever you need as long as it isn't any of that cheap ebay aluminum crap.
