i am getting 4.96 at wot and .42 at idle. this is with my car off and reading from my scanmaster. would this high reading give me problems,or should i lower it to 4.6-4.8 wot

Not sure where those old "wive's tales" came from. The ONLY thing that will trip a high TPS code requires over 5.0v.
I've been running in the 4.95-4.97 area for several years. No ill effects.
The only problem you "may" run into, if you press the throttle REAL HARD during a run to get just a few more ounces of HP out of it, you could push it past 5.0v, and then trip an error code.
