I'm not going to try to SELL anyone anything.
There are advantages to the roller rockers.
Stiffer shafts that solve the breakage problem some have.
Actual true valve action, since the shafts and rockers do not flex.
A true rocker ratio, the factory rockers are rated at 1.55:1, and are actually about 1.5:1, before you add the flex problem.
Adjustable valve train, makes EXACT setting of preload for each individual valve and lifter possible. Many have found they pick ET and MPH by just getting the valves adjusted right.
More area under the lift curve, due to the better rocker ratio of 1.6:1, and practically eliminating flex in the rocker system.
Yes, you can go fast without them, real fast in many cases. You can go faster easier with them, in many cases.
As an engine builder, I DESPISE non adjustable valvetrain, because unless you buy a special pushrod for EACH individual cylinder, preload can never be perfect on every cylinder. I have some engines with two different length pushrods when they shouldn't have to be that way.
