WE4 production numbers?

I've owned my WE4 for over 15 years and have never known of a way to determine where in the production run of the 1547 a particular car falls. But, I just saw a WE4 for sale where the owner claims his car is #1227 of 1547 and there is a little tag riveted on the driver door jam next to the GM decal with the #1227 on it.

Is there now a way to obtain this information on the WE4s?

I think there is no official tag unless the owner made it himself.

There is no tag for production #'s on WE-4's I dont have one on my car either.
