My wife and I are going to Las Vegas next week. Never been before. Any tips/suggestions? What shows, places to eat, ect do you recommend?

How much time will you have? Seems like every time I go I never make it through my list of things to do.

Eat at the Red Square. It's a Russian resturant on the ground floor of Mandalay Bay. The food is pricey, but very worth it.

Definately spend an afternoon walking through the forums at Caesar's Palace. Set a limit on what you have to spend though. While you're there, look for the mexican bar that serves the 3ft. margaritas.

Have breakfast at the Paris. The crepes are great.

Hit the Fontana Bar in the Bellagio for an evening show. If the house band that night happens to be a group called Isis, tell the singer (Kevin) that Adam says hi.

Roller coaster at the New York New York is a lot of fun.

Hofbräuhaus is mandatory. An exact replica of the one in Munich where Oktoberfest started. The food is authentic German, and so is the beer. The beer is served in either half- or one litre mugs. Personally I'm a fan of dark (dunkel) but they're all good.

Blue Man Group is a great show. I'm told Cirque du Soleil is great too, but haven't caught one yet. Everywhere you go you'll be constantly surrounded by ads for shows playing, it should be easy to find something you'll enjoy.

Carry small bills for tipping. It's pretty much customary (but not required) to tip everyone who does something for you (especially at the bars, resturants, and in the cabs). Just don't do it on the casino floors unless you're familiar with the proper way to do so. And don't carry enough cash to make it worth getting robbed. All the hotels have safes in the rooms for your valuables.

Wear comfortable shoes. You'll be walking a lot. How you dress is up to you, but some places do have a dress code. Clean jeans, a nice shirt, and a suit jacket will be fine for pretty much anywhere.

Cirque du Soleil has the MYSTERE at Treasure Island. It was awesome. The O at the Belagio is great too. I saw the Amazing Jonathan i think at the Flamingo and never laughed so hard. definitely the coaster at NY NY at night. Just live like a rock star. eat drink no sleeping allowed : )

It is pretty much a waste of time to try and drive anywhere on the strip. It's OK to drive when you go off the strip, but parking at most places can cause you to walk much farther than you bargained for. Buy a day pass for the bus, you'll be glad you did, the bus is not your normal city bus.

While you are out there go see the Hover Dam. It's one of the coolest man-made structures I've ever seen. Yes - go on the Dam tour. You can go into the dam, see how it works, and appreciate how massive it is. The Dam is about 30-40 minutes from Vegas. You can take a tour from Vegas or rent a car and drive.

Behind Caesar's Palace there is a free shuttle to the Rio and Palms which are off the main strip.

There's also tours available where you can get a helicopter ride to the Dam or the Grand Canyon, but I believe you'll have to book those several weeks in advance.

Thanks guys! We are planning on seeing "O" at the Bellagio. Hoover Dam is on the list, it's four hours from hotel to the dam (with tour) and back.

Adam, We're staying at the Bellagio, so I'm sure we'll be at the Fontana bar. I'll say hi if I see Isis.
Keep em coming!

Damon drink a fifth of Jack Daniels and then take the credit card to the ATM in the casino then go play roulette all night. It should work out fine for you. Should win enough for a low, low mile GNX.

Tip.....90 percent of the people louse 90 percent of there money the first day.....

Don't be jealous because I'm going to Vegas and you're going to Houston to see a "has been" rock band!

Yeah....Iron Maiden or a slot machine...HUUUUUMMM...let me think about that one. I guess I will go Bang MY Head.

I will make it to Vegas one day. Actually maybe me and the boys will just head west on I-10 when the concerts over. Im sure my wife wouldnt mind being a week late coming home.:D

I often tell people "Get off the Strip during the day, but get on it at night."

Off-strip daytime:
Hoover Dam
Red Rock Canyon
Valley of Fire
Shelby Museum/factory out by the Speedway. {Assuming it's survived the resession}

On-strip nighttime:
Free shows in front of casinos:
Water at Bellagio
Volcano at Mirage
Sirens of TI
If you choose to go into the downtown at night, enjoy the canopy, but don't venture out from underneath it (unless you're packing heat!)

Free shows in casinos:
Bengal tigers in the Mirage
Caesar's Forum Shops (two different sets of statues put on an hourly show)
Aquariams as well in the above two casinos

Paid things to do (fair priced):
Car collection at Imperial Palace (you can haggle for free tix if you like, with guy out front, or just pay the minimal $5/person)
Madame Toussads wax museum at Venetian
Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay
Rollercoaster at NY NY
Rides/view at top of Stratosphere
Rollercoaster at Sahara, plus Nascar things

That should keep you busy. Tons of places to go shopping, especially along the Strip.

Go to the hard rock there is a restaurant that has all the prime rib you can eat $9 i think its called mr. lucky. I hope they are still doing that.

X2 on any Cirque du sole shows. There are a lot. All are top quality. Did not think I would like them but they are cool.......all ages. Go down town at night...the entire street is covered with lights and there is a show every hour. This is the OLD school Vegas. The gun store lets you shoot a Full Auto/Machine gun. If this is what you are in to. You should have a Magazine in your room that tells you what is happening that month.

YEs VERY cool:cool::cool::cool:

hey, hit me up when your in town, i work in a local casino.. and we are getting 50% off all the restaurant for the month of june.:)

And don't walk anywhere that looks close. the buildings are huge. if it looks like a 10 minute walk, a half hour into it you realize you're only half way there. take cabs, they have AC, it's worth it

Maiden are far from has beens. their last album made the US top ten and they sell out all over the country. They've sold out Madison Square Garden in under two hours many times. Not liking them is one thing. I'd take a Maiden gig over Vegas. Hell, i went to Vegas to see them! The escort didn't see much of the show though

You gotta go to Fremont st. (old vegas) They have the light show in the street every 30 mins and the you can see what old vegas was like(well atleast the inside of the casinos are the same anyway). There's a food stand in the golden nugget (i think) that has the best burger's ever. I liked Bill's Gamblin Hall (next to the flamingo) they have live bands every night til the dawns early light and the beers are only $2. You can ride the gondola's at the Venetian. Whatever you do don't fall for the buy $30 get $60 in slot play at the Riviera. They don't let you cash out and you only win if you get the jackpot or you'll be leaving there with a t-shirt and coffee mug.
