Replace your original steering shaft with an upgraded steering shaft. It is a good upgrade for cars with original rag joint steering shafts. The jeep shaft uses a u-joint instead of a rag joint eliminating steering slop. $50 shipped to lower 48. The is a direct swap and bolts are included.

Here is a video which explains the installation process.

These shafts are a direct fit for our TR.

Just wanted to help and point out that a slight mod must be made to install these.

The upper bolt on the stock GN column goes through a hole in the middle of the steering shaft. The Jeep replacement is a clamp style, and that bolt now is on the side of the shaft.

This will require a notch to be ground into the GN shaft so the bolt can be installed.

The Jeep shaft is from a Cherokee 1986-1995.

someone posted detailed directions to install. anyone know where it is located?

Thanks for the tip..Mine required no grinding at all for the bolt to fasten. Although, this maybe be necessary for some..didn't have to do any grinding on my 86 T.

Did you watch the video? Install is pretty basic..remove your old shaft. Then I install the new shaft to the steering column first..you will have to tap on it with a hammer to press it onto the column shaft(tight fit). Once it is in place secure the 13mm bolt. Next you will have to extend the shaft over the gear box shaft. This also might take a little bit of hammer strength:smile: to get it in place. Once bottomed out secure the bolt and you are finished. Average grease monkey should be able to complete the job in less than 2 hours. Any other questions feel free..
