Garrett TA49 turbo that needs a rebuild. following the steps on gnttype
removed exhaust and compressor housings, and now trying to remove compressor wheel from turbo shaft. the hex head on the exhaust side of the shaft was heavily ground down (i assume for balancing), so i only have a small portion of a flat side of the hex head to grab in a vice. (three sides of the hex have a full flat edge, but the other opposing sides are either partially gone or totally gone). nut on compressor side is not breaking free, and i'm thinking i may end up destroying the remaining bit of the shaft hex head getting the compressor wheel nut removed. how can i get this apart without destroying the ground down hex end of the exhaust side of the shaft? thx
