Tooth missing from rear gear

Heard some chatter when turning corners, so I drained all the rear diff oil.

Couple Questions:

1st off; there was a thick head of foam on the top of the drained fluid. That normal? I didn't think it was.

2ndly; when I inspected the rear gear it looked beautiful! Nice and clean, shiny but with ONE TOOTH missing!

How big of a problem do I have on my hands here? Can I still safely drive the GN?

TIA.

you want to fix that immediately..... Been doing some aggressive launches have we?!?! :)

stick with the 3:42's as they have been proven to work great in our applications whether you are running 12's all the way down to the 9's.

If one tooth is missing the rest are sure to follow. Nothing like the sound of stripping the teeth off a ring gear, been there done that. (in a Ford, not the Buick):)

Thx fer the input. Anyone know a good source for this? Should i just purchase a new rearend / axle etc? Or just the guts?

P.S. Mark, I'm REAL happy with the scanmaster hood... looks like a million bux! Thx again fer the awesome service!
