TH-400 trans fluid

Does anyone know the correct/best trans fluid for a TH-400 trans w/ manual valve body and transbrake?

I use just off the shelf DEX lll. Some people use Type F because of its lubrication property.

Any disadvantage going with the Type F over Dex lll?

i was told to run compressor oil in my 400....it is Amsoil synthetic sae 20 compressor oil...............Bob

I think the F type would be the way to go with a new tranny becuse of the lubracation properties. Ive had my 400 in my GN now for 14 years with Dextron. I change it every year. My GN is a daily but 3k a year. Something about driving a 10 sec car on the street just to go to work fascinates me!

The most logical choice would be the most widely used fluid .This would be dextron.The friction modifier benefits of the type f are now standard in most quality dextron based fluids.
