Anyone know if you can use an 86 monte ss trans and/or converter in an 86 gn?

I wanna know that myself. I was told ages ago that the two transmissions are the same. I've never really known if there are any real differences and I thought they should be basically the same although it seems the converter itself might well be different.

yes and they work great.just use the gn servo and speedo gears as well as a good shift kit.

I would use at minimum a restalled d-5 converter also. I wouldnt use the converter that came with the CZ trans.

I'm glad to read this. I was told frankly, the M/C SS got the BRF just as the GN did. I have read countless times though, the M/C got the CZ and some have said all M/C's except the SS got that, and the SS got the BRF.

I prefer the CZ over the BR even in TR's. The trans is more alive on kickdowns with the CZ vb.
