Driven to and from track, build thread is here.

Slower pass on the nice camera. Fighting traction with this thing! All vids should be in 1080p.

Threw on some 29x12 slicks and still have traction issues launching at anymore than 4psi. Jumps to 21psi in 1.3 seconds after the T-brake is released. Had a few close runs. Time ships should be at the end of the video.

There was a truck at the shop today with a 5.3. It ran 5.8x eighth on 93 octane. Those engines are kick ass

The LS engine is a gift from god to turbo junkies...cheap parts and Reliable!
Yup. When I need a set of heads I can have them at the door in one day.

My best last year was a 5.73 @ 122.7. If I could get this sucker to hook I'd be on my way to some 5.70's!

If you all haven't seen this yet it, it blew my mind!

Stock bottom end 5.3 Runs 4's in the 1/8th.
275 Dr's, Filled block on methanol. Aftermarket hardware on the bottom end. OEM rods, pistons, block.

$60 China head studs!

Ran all last year in the 5's with a garrett t88. Stepped up to an S500 BW 88 this year.

Does this apply to all generations of 5.3
I ask this because my brother is now getting into drag racing with me and he has a 2003 chevy truck with the 5.3L. I was thinking only 11's bottom end wise?

These should be good to about 1200hp if the tune is clean. I bet that 4 sec methanol one is leaking compression when it goes down the quarter. Not a big deal as long as the gasket is staying in place.

Make that 155! DA was horrible 3700 ft! Hot humid air all night.

Strapped the front end down and played with the ladder bars a bit. Bars were setup neutral without driver previously. Now I have them setup neutral with me in the car. (slip fit FWD mount bolt on pass side bar with driver.)

Seems to launch pretty straight. Ithink with a some fine tuning on the bars and loosening up the straps a bit I'll get my 1.3x's back. I managed solid 1.40-1.44 60's all night. Kinda boring now just hooks and goes! :D

60' 1.43
1/8 5.89 @121.49
1/4 9.02 154.27

60' 1.40
1/8 5.84 @ 122.6
1/4 9.01 @ 155.4

New turbo installed. :D

Old turbo was a T4 1.10AR 83/74 exh wheel. 74.5mm cast compressor.

New turbo is an T4 2.25AR 87/77.5 exh wheel. 76mm billet compressor.

New turbo is a worker! Trapped 159 tonight at 25lbs! Seems to be worth an additional 4mph or so over my last setup at the same boost levels. Still running the cheapo china IC as well. Ordered a treadstone unit to try. Pressure drop on treadstone cores is suppose to be much better. Best 60' of the night was my first run. 1.47, and netted me a 8.94 @ 147.6 at 24lbs.

157 and 159(y)
Do you log oil psi? Just curious as to how stable it is at that speed/power level.

That is AWESOME!!! These motors keep surprising me. And the Borg turbo's are no joke either! I recently upgraded my very small pte 62/62 with 62/73 turbine to a s366 which uses a 73/80 turbine. Just looking at your specs and seeing what you gained going bigger has me hopeful I may pick up 4mph with my swap alone lol.

You have any pics of how you did your hotside pipes? Always looking for ideas.

I do not. Just run a mech. gauge. I should also note that the last 2 oil changes I have noticed some alum flake in the filter element. I believe this is due to me uncovering the pickup on the launch. The F-body pan I'm using is horrible for drag racing. Even with me running 8qts (not a typo!) pressure will drop on a hard launch. I ordered the "improved racing" drop in baffle for the Fbody pan as well as their crank scraper to try. Also going to install roll pins in the pushrods to limit the oil going to the top end a bit. I had hoped to do all this this winter but I managed to blow a HG and take out the head and block.

After examining it closely I believe this was due to negligence on my part. I did not retorque the studs after a few heat cycles (or ever) like I should have. I believe the studs loosened up and the head lifted. Looks like the gasket was fluttering and lifting over time. It finally bored its way thought the gasket and blowtorched the deck and head. :( I've got a spare 4.8 I'll install to finish out the season.

Timing was 17*, AFr was 10.8 in low gear and 11.0 solid in high gear. No signs of detonation I can see.

I have a build thread here with pics. Photobucket Nazis sold out (man I hate those bastards) and limit band width per month now. Mine is exceeded for this month so you'll have to wait till the 18th until all the pics are back up.

My hotside is joke, so much so that I'm embarrassed to post the pics of it. Tons of room for improvement there. It's a simple "T" merge with OEM manifolds and 2.5" piping.

It works that's all that matters. Looks like you used a passenger side header and flipped it upside down. I tried that once on my setup but was a pita to pull plugs and burnt up quite a few plug wires.

Why not use Imgur?

Actually aside from the "T" merge and the too large 2.5" piping... it is very easy to work on in the car. I can change all my plugs in 20 minutes (both sides) and I've never burnt a plug wire. Still running the original autozone LT1 set from 2 years ago on the pass side. I don't even run insulation on the plug wires/boots. These are the stamped SS F-body manifolds with V-bands welded on.
