Starting SBC notchback mustang build

Here's some pics guys!!!!

Here are some mock pics of the build!!!!

1500hp Eagle Forced induction kit has been ordered should be about 2 weeks!!!

Will be working on the mustang this weekend as of mount the gauge pods and removing the gas tank and old engine harness also the inside has been removed except for the back seat and dash.

Getting a combo tank made a guy makes the water tanks for 135 or so and they are nice and he can build whatever you design also.

So 24" long and 12" deep and 9" height and you get a 5 gallon water tank and a 5 gallon fuel cell tank.

Its beats chiesled performance price!!!!!!!!!

And as you can see this has not turned out as a cheap build I beleive I need to stop adding all the receipes together but why not!!!!!!

Thanks!!!! Ray

Actually I am from Atmore,AL and work in Wetumpka,AL but should be transferring back to Atmore by June.

The mustang is in Atmore,AL but the regal is in Wetumpka,AL with me at work!!!!!

Cool, that's even better, Atmore is only about 45 min drive for me. Glad you got the Buick with you. You'll probably be going nutz without something to work on:wink: I'll see you around eventually...

okay i want a pt88 or gt4788 but many of the deals have gone under i after sold the one turbo i had a S400 off a diesel i will either order an s480 turbo from forced performance.net or this turbo if all measurements come to spec as an 88mm turbo. But here are some pics of the turbo and some description from the guy on nmra forum. Also he is getting me the exact mm of the inducer and exducer of the comp. wheel and exhaust wheel. He is selling for a friend because i was buying his gt4788 turbo that he bought in a kit that he never recieved (UPS has losted it) so he know someone that a turbo for sale.

This is the email he sent me with pics.

Ok. Attached are the pictures that I got.. The flange is the same as on my 98mm, which is a T6. There are pictures of the turbine and compressor wheels, along with the measurements. The compressor wheel inlet is 4.0" (same as another 88mm that was at the shop), the outlet is 3.5", and the turbine inlet is 3.5"-3.75", and based on the outer dimension would need a 5.0" downpipe (could always be made smaller if desired, but the part attaching to the housing would be 5").

It is not as big as my 98mm, but I saw it at the guy's shop next to an 80mm and it was bigger. So, I would infer that it is ~88mm (also since it had the same compressor inlet size). It is a nice looking turbo, with the compressor having dual angled blades (more volume) and the turbine wheel definitely spun with less effort than my 98mm, which left me impressed with it.. There is no shaft play.

Bottom line, it looks like a really nice turbo, and should suit you well. I provided the only stamping on it to you last night. So this is what I am able to tell you about it. The price is very reasonable, so I hopefully it is what you are looking for. Please let me know either way.

Thanks,

Dan

Also he sent this also!!!

James-

On the exhaust housing, there is a stamping: 408752. Other than that, there were no other numbers. I had my PT88-98 at the guys shop last night, and can tell you that the sizes of the compressor and exhaust housings were visually identical. The inlet/out were the same as well. There was a guy up there last night who deals with a LOT of turbos. He said that based on the shape of the compressor wheel and turbine wheel, the turbos were definitely in the same class Garrett, meaning that they both would support over 1,100 hp with the proper engine combination.

Another guy who was at the shop said that on his SBC (357 inches), an identical turbo made 1,090 rwhp through a carb set-up (EFI should be worth another 75-100 minimum). The turbo can be bought for only $725 plus shipping!

This is super cheap for an 88mm turbo that will support over 1,100 hp. Let me know what you want to do.

Dan

Compressor does look like an 88mm or so. Only way to know is to remove the compressor housing......takes about 3 minutes including removing the V-band clamp and sliding the housing off. Then measure diameter from tip to tip in mm. That will give you the true size. I'm sure it's enough turbo to destroy a stock block.

turbo measurements

here is what sent me:

Tip to Tip (i asked for this)
3.25" exhaust converted to 82.55mm

3.38" comp. inducer converted to 85.85mm

3.43" comp. exducer converted to 87.12mm

Base to Base (not sure what he mines)
3.75" exhaust converted to 95.25mm

4.60" comp. inducer converted to 116.84mm

4.63" comp. exducer converted to 117.60mm

New Pics!!!

Here is the short block!!

There are more pics to come!!!

Hard to finish my motor when you have four cars to wire up before this easter sunday race, from ign-fuel-nos-transbrake and other misc switches and such all in only two days at being at home from work!!!

Update

Here are some more pics of the engine in the car. Getting headers built next week along with 10 point cage with funny car upgrade. Going with 325/50 drag radials so the other guys will run me at my local track!!!!! I guess the sound of a turbo scare the nitrous cars around here. Tony Davies has started testing a my local track also and its a nice L/S nitrous car heard he has run some 4.90's and still testing. I may have to ask for a bulb or two in my dreams!!!!!

Put car in the shop about a week ago and got phone call to say the headers are built and the hood was installed also and the cage should be installed and finished this weekend. Go up tomorrow for work and will get some pics then and post them asap. Trying to get much as I can in the process of buying a house also along with this build thats why I been slow with the build.

Sounds like it coming along nicely. Get those pics up soon as possible, I like seeing art work in the making:cool:

Update pics

The headers are finished tucked tight and are miles away from plug wires and sterring linkage. Hope the cage is finished this weekend so I am pick it up while up north for a race in montgomery. Its going to be a 10 piont thur the dash cage with x braced doors and rear x brace down bars over the back seat.

Got the regal back this passed weekend and it wont fire so i guess ill take the msd off and crank it with the accel 6 box unitl i figure out if the coil interface is not good or the msd dis -4 box is bad. it flashes intermitted signal but its not hard wired it uses the interface but no fire.
