The first one didn't really count. It was one of those new, retro Triumph motorcycles. These things are very cool looking. I chatted with the dude for a minute at the red light. He showed me the factory fuel injection that ran through fake looking carbs. If you didn't know it, you'd think you were looking at a perfectly restored 70's Brit bike. I asked the guy "Is it fast?" He nodded an affirmative "Yes". Now, I'm not sure what you guys definition of "fast" is, but his must have been "Anything that gets the wind blowing past his chrome". After a very uneventful pass in which I easily put 20 bus lengths on his wayback machine, we coasted to the next red light.

He pulled up along my right side, just shaking his head. First thing out of his mouth is the typical, "What do you have under the hood?" Me, "Just a little V6". He was still just shaking his head in disbelief as a new looking Yamaha R6 pulled up on his right side. He turned away from me to exchange pleasantries with this rider. I couldn't hear a word they were saying to each other, but I can tell you that this chat involved him pointing at my car while shaking his head once again.

This next bike was obviously much higher on the performance food chain than the hor dourve I had just snacked on. As the cross traffic yellow light came on, the Yamaha inched to the line, while glancing between me and the soon to be green light. I didn't want to get too far behind him, coming out of the hole. I figured that if I could keep him close to me until about 60 mph, I'd then be able to get the MT DRs to hook, go full throttle and walk away from him. this is exactly what happened. I'm not sure if that bike was a dog coming out of the hole, or he just planned on matching my speed as we cleared the intersection. I had to do a slight peddle job at about 50 mph as the tires hazed and the back end started to go to a bid to the left. As soon as I was able to go WOT, I glanced over to see him looking at me. I just smiled as my mid ten second GN pulled away from him, until about a buck twenty when he was 6-8 cars back in my rear view mirror.

We slowed for the next upcoming light. Yamaha guy pulled up and gave me a big thumbs up and an approving nod. A few seconds later, the Triumph dude did the same. We followed each other for a few miles until my turn off. It was like a had a very humble, two bike escort going through town. One last wave and time to go home and put the car way for the weekend.

Happy spooling...

Nice work!! I am used to beating Harley riders, but a RS6 is serious stuff. Way to represent.
