I couldn't agree with all of you more on the safey aspect of your comments.
I was right there when Scott Atkinson wadded his 9 second car up with only a bar in it (not a cage, as was required) in 2012. I'm fully aware of the consequences even the smallest crash can have.
I didn't say I wouldn't put a bar in my car, I will have to if I want to continue to take it to the track. The fact is, all the dragstips in Phoenix are currently closed and there is only a glimmer of hope that one will re-open anytime soon, so I don't have to get one just yet.
The title to the thread and the OP's question was "Roll bar - is it or is it not still a street car!!"
I merely stated that, in my opinion, a roll bar transforms a car like mine, a 10 second, daily drivable car with working A/C, cruise control, and all the other aminities that originally came with the car right down to the spare tire and jack, from a real street car into something other than a real street car, whatever that may be classified as.
Again, it's merely an opinion and in no way was a comment directed to the safety aspect of bar vs. no bar.
