Plug/Socket above console pod

Can someone tell what this plug is that sits right above the console pod, just underneath the radio. Looks as if a light bulb should be in there but not sure. Thanks.

thats the bulb socket for the ashtray lamp
it takes a 194 bulb
on bench cars there is a slide out ashtray under the radio , console cars didnt get the ashtray there so no need for a bulb
on console cars they used a schotchlok connector and tapped the gray wire to that socket for the shifter illumunation

Pulled the glove box light and plugged it in and yep it came on when I turned on the headlight switch! Would it be a problem to have that light plugged in all the time? Wouldn't mine a little extra light in the interior. Thanks Paul!
