if i change my relief spring will that have any effect on my oil pressure @ wot, and also can i just change the spring w/o losing prime?

There are different springs available. They color code them. I think the stock spring is for 60lbs. The highest one I seen was a 70lb spring. It only effect WOT oil pressure. Not sure if going to higher pressures is desirable. I would be more concerned with hot idle pressures. That is a function of pump gear clearance.

You might be able get away with changing the spring and holding prime.

I have the HV pump (booster plate) and originally installed the 80psi spring and got 80+psi untill the engine would warm up. I didn't like it so I pulled it and installed the 70psi spring. I didn't lose prime and now it actually reads on the TTA gauge without pegging it. Pretty simple to do.

BTW, it will not affect anything other than the max oil pressure. It is for a check valve that bypasses oil when the pressure reaches whatever point (60psi, 70psi, 80psi). It will not change your oil pressure in any way other than that.
