Finally did the "spring cleaning" portion regarding cleaning my intercooler.

I was kinda surprised to find a thick coating of oil on the inside of the uppipe and on the inlet and exit of the intercooler. U don't wanna know how dark the carb cleaner was that i poured outta the intercooler! Even the sleeves that cover the connections from intercooler to upipe were saturated with oil.

Weird thing was ... no oil (and i mean NONE) on the exit of the turbo! Where is this oil coming from? Is there something terribly wrong with my car? Pls help!

TIA! :D

Do you have the tube that runs from the passenger side valve cover to the turbo bypassed? If not, thats where it came from.

Should i have it bypassed? I guess what i mean to ask is ... will it hurt anything if i DO bypass it?

Thx fer helpin out a newb!

Nope, it doesn't hurt to bypass. Being the "cheese captain", I removed the tube, stuffed a chunk of oil saturated foam into the factory breather elbow (after cleaning the factory breather), and zip-tied a black rubber cap on the turbo inlet hole. BAM! No more oil. :D
