I am restoring an engine, tearing apart and changing all gaskets and painting. In doing this I found alot of oil built up in the vacuum block and also when I took the intake off I found oil built up by a blocked port. Is this normal, is there anyway to stop this from happening again. I have enclosed pics. Thanks in advance for any help.

Its normal. Its the PCV that is sucking up oil. On your intake manifold, thats carbon build up from the egr port also normal. To stop the oil being sucked in you can run a catch can.

Thanks for the quick response

Can I block out the PCV, or will I lose vacuum if I do? This engine had alot of race bolt ons that I am taking off and returning to stock. Hopefully that will help also.
