no temp control fan, need help

Bought a Haynes manual for 1974-87 and got it today, junk! The blower motor wasn't working when I bought it a few months ago, and I found a brown wire with white tracer cut behind the glove box hooked up to a toggle switch, then hotwired to the alternator. Removed that, spliced the wires back together, and nothing. Which I expected, hence the rigging. Fuses are all good, and I'm guessing there's a relay somewhere as well. Is there a fuseable link in this??? Thought I'd ask first. It's an '87 Regal non-turbo.

And, what's a good manual to get me started?

What is this plug for? It seems to match the color coding to my temp control wires, but I don't see where they plug in. Can anyone help me out here? I have no working temp control fan. I can add a hot wire and the fan works, but I'd like to enjoy the car a little more.

if your car doesn't have this relay, then it's time to either get a new one at NAPA or hit a junkyard;
