L LEW_86 Member Joined Nov 4, 2013 Apr 8, 2014 #1 Just installed a new coil and ignition control module and noticed that the one I took out had a crack in the silicone area. I bought a new one due to a misfire and code 42. Would that crack cause the module to go bad?

8 87geeinn Buick and AMG pilot Joined Jan 17, 2006 Apr 9, 2014 #6 I bought a brand new GM ignition module that had that same crack in it right out of the box. Tested out perfectly fine though. x2 on that blue wire. I can't think of any reason that wire could get frayed under normal circumstances.

L LEW_86 Member Joined Nov 4, 2013 Apr 9, 2014 #7 Me either, but looks like it was cut or something. wasn't sure of the age or make of the coil and module seemed to cleared up my issues. I used a BWD brand from advanced auto.
