Horrible shifting

So I pulled the transmission a few weeks ago and replaced the torque converter. When I was pulling it, I broke the shifter cable ( part ordered, using column to shift ) and I forgot to unhook the bracket holding the TV cable to the wall. The cable was stretched a little and will not sit flush on the tranny any more. The car shifts ok under normal driving but at WOT it sounded horrible at the shift and didnt shift correctly. Any advice would be great!

Probably bunched up the grommet somehow. Pull it back off and stuff a new grommet in it and put a dab of grease around the grommet so it goes together easier
