Help on porting clyinder heads.....

Hello: pulled the motor out of my '84 GN. I want to port the heads, nothing to serious just some bowl work and clean up, but I dont know were to start. I have done some chevy heads and I saw some porting patters in a hi performance book that i have, but I dont see any thing on the 3.8 V6. the casting looks kinda rough and i wounder how they run as good as they do! so any iedas on were I can find some pic's and info? thanks all.
