Guage troubles

I was working on my car tonight and must pulled the oil sending unit wire off, I get in car and oil pressure is buried, maxed out. so I look and sure enough the wire is off, I hook it back up, but no change, guage is still buried, What could be wrong now ? would the guage go bad that quick, or the sending unit ? where or what should I check first, and how do I go about it ? I hate electrical problems.

No, and nobody local has any ideas either, They tell me my gauge is going to ground, but I have traced the wires and that does not seem to be the case. I'm just one of those guys that always monitor the oil pressure, and it's driving me nuts. any thought's ???????????????????????

I would take the wire off and check the reading again.

Then take a 1K ohm resistor and put one end on the wire and the other end of the resistor to a GOOD ground.

Then report back the readings.

Any value resistor between 100 ohms and 1000 should work for the test.
